Robbie Williams in new row with council as he’s hit with strict rules at £17m London mansion

ROBBIE Williams has been slapped with some very strict rules for improvements at his £17m London mansion.

The Take That legend, 49, has finally been given permission from the council to cut down two trees in his grounds – but no work must take place at the weekend in a bid to keep his posh neighbours happy.

Robbie, who is already unpopular with heavy metal legend neighbour Jimmy Page, had asked to chop down the trees and prune other plants – and after experts from local authority visited his pad, they gave him the thumbs up.

Council chiefs told him: “For reasons of courtesy please inform any tenants of the property, or any other interested parties, of the proposed tree work.

“No works should take place on Sundays and noisy operations unless essential should be avoided on Saturdays.”

They also told him to plant two saplings to replace the doomed trees.

A neighbour had previously said they are against the plan by writing to planners in a letter that read: “Hello there, I think these trees should be left as chopping down healthy trees is an act of environmental vandalism.

“Shame on anyone wanting to destroy our leafy friends. They give us life – we should respect theirs.”

But another local told officials: “I am fully in favour of this application. The trees at the back of the property are disproportionately large for the garden and need some heavy pruning for reasons for safety and appearance.”

Former Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy spent five years fighting Robbie’s plans to renovate his £17.5million Grade II listed mansion.

He argued unsuccessfully that vibrations could damage ancient paintings and frescoes in his home, where he has lived for 50 years.

Robbie bought his house from the family of late film director Michael Winner in 2013.

Meanwhile, Jimmy outbid David Bowie to buy his place in 1972.
