Here’s why a royal biographer says that Prince William believed Meghan had ulterior motives when she married Prince Harry.

There are some who believe that Meghan Markle married Prince Harry for love, of course. But there are also some who believe that the former Suits star married the royal for her own personal gain. If you agree with the latter, then you fall in line with what the duke’s brother, Prince William, reportedly believes.

There are reports that the Prince of Wales wasn’t the only one who had concerns about his sibling marrying Meghan too quickly. But William may have been the only one who saw through the duchess and suspected she had everything planned out this way.

Here’s what a royal expert is saying about that now.

Prince William confronted Prince Harry about ‘rushing’ into marriage with Meghan

The princes’ alleged rift over Meghan was first detailed in the book Finding Freedom.

According to authors’ sources, “Back when Meghan and Harry were dating, William, having met Meghan only a handful of times, wanted to make sure the American actress had the right intentions. ‘After all, these are two brothers that have spent their whole lives with people trying to take advantage of them.’ As William didn’t know a whole lot about Meghan, he wanted to make sure Harry wasn’t blindsided by lust. Some members of staff were whispering words of alarm into [William’s] ear.”

Therefore, the future king decided to have a serious talk with Harry and told him: “Don’t feel you need to rush this. Take as much time as you need to get to know this girl.”

However, William’s “girl” word choice infuriated the younger prince so the advice fell on deaf ears.

Prince William was concerned because he knew Meghan had no plans of staying in the U.K.

As The Sun noted, biographer Sally Bedell Smith revealed that she previously spoke to Queen Elizabeth II’s cousin, Lady Elizabeth Anson, who talked to the late monarch every day before her death. She gave a fascinating look into what the queen and other members of the family thought about Prince Harry wanting to marry Meghan. Anson claimed that, like William, the queen had concerns about Meghan and what her endgame was.

Anson reportedly told Smith that Queen Elizabeth “remarked that Harry was perhaps a little bit too much in love, was possibly besotted and a bit weak and being manipulated by Meghan.”

Fellow author Phil Dampier gave his take on the subject and Smith’s information and said, “I’ve been saying or thought for the last few years that, sadly, Meghan never really had any intention of staying in the royal family. She saw as a stepping stone getting married to Harry to new fame and fortune.

“And I think that’s what initially Prince William was concerned about. And that’s why they fell out. And now we are where we are. But to have this confirmed by somebody so close to the queen is, really dynamite.”

Prince William and Prince Harry are still estranged today and are thought not to have spoken to each other in years.
