Prince William and Kate Middleton have spent so much time together this year while Kate underwent chemotherapy. But William’s recent move shows she’s much healthier.
Prince William and Kate Middleton have shown this year that they are stronger than ever. At the start of 2024, Kate took a leave of absence for medical reasons, and in March, she revealed that she had been diagnosed with cancer. During that time, William was still attending limited royal engagements but spending as much time by his wife’s side as he could.
By the end of the summer, Kate had revealed that she was officially cancer free and has now returned to her royal duties. And William’s recent decision confirms that Kate’s health is in good standing.
Prince William’s South Africa trip confirms that Kate Middleton is doing well
William and Kate spent plenty of time together during Kate’s treatment. William was quite protective of his wife, saying very little about her in public and letting her reveal her diagnosis on her own time. The Prince and Princess of Wales have always had a rock-solid relationship, and William did very little traveling during Kate’s treatment to ensure that he was home for her and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
But William’s latest move seems to confirm that Kate is in great health: He’s traveling to South Africa. It’s the furthest he’s gone since the princess’ diagnosis, and his confidence in leaving her for several days to travel so far away suggests that Kate is doing well.
William will head to South Africa on November 4 to attend the Earthshot Prize Awards ceremony. Kate and the children will remain at home, but clearly the prince feels comfortable leaving his wife alone.
“I want the Earthshot Prize to have provided a platform to all those innovators bringing about change for their communities, encouraged potential investors to speed African solutions to scale and inspired young people across Africa who are engaged in climate issues,” Prince William said of this year’s awards, according to BBC.
Kate Middleton is putting her family first in this new part of life
At the end of the summer, Kate released a video featuring William and the kids, where she discussed how much the cancer had changed her and how much she values the little things in life. The video showcased family time above anything else, and it seems that William and Kate are taking even more steps to ensure that their family becomes their focus — even above the monarchy.
Kate has returned to royal duties, but it wouldn’t be surprising if the princess chose to undertake fewer duties than expected. Kate wants to be present in her children’s lives, as does William, so the monarchy is not quite as important as ensuring they’re there for their kids.
