Did the Prince of Wales forget to wipe lipstick off after a smooch with his wife? Not everyone thinks so.
Prince William has lived his entire life in the public eye and is used to cameras following his every move whenever he’s out and about. Despite this, the heir to the throne has always tried to keep some aspects of his life private, especially intimate moments between him and his wife, the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton).
Because the pair shows minimal PDA during engagements, fans are going wild over a video that began circulating online showing the Prince of Wales with lipstick on his mouth as he left a function with the princess. But was it Kate’s lipstick stain on the prince? While some concluded it was and William just didn’t wipe his mouth, others aren’t convinced that wasn’t the case.
Video of Prince William with red shade on his lips goes viral
The video uploaded to TikTok features several shots of Prince William in a car with what appears to be some light red lipstick on his mouth. The video is titled: “Does William have red lipstick lips? Catherine. We caught them.”
The images are from the annual Reception for Members of the Diplomatic Corps at Buckingham Palace on Dec. 6, 2022. It was the first hosted by King Charles III after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, and the first following a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The photos of William were taken in the backseat of a vehicle as he and Kate left the event.
Royal watchers pointed out that the traces of red left on the prince’s lips were evidence that he and the princess shared a kiss but he forgot to wipe his mouth before cameras began clicking away.
The 12-second clip has over 150,000 views and more than 5,000 likes. It’s also garnered dozens of comments from fans gushing over the Prince of Wales and his wife.
“Prince William is so handsome! And Princess Catherine is gorgeous!!” one user wrote.
A second chimed in: “Who better to kiss your lips red….beautiful couple.”
Another joked, “We know what you did William,” while a third posted, “He’s wearing Catherine’s lipstick” with kissing emojis.
A fifth added that the Waleses are the “definition of ‘private but not secret.’”
Not everyone thinks it’s Kate’s lipstick
But not everyone agrees that tint of red on William’s lips is actually Kate’s lipstick and offered up different theories.
Some don’t believe it was lipstick at all, as one person claimed the prince “presses his lips together when he is nervous or stressed. That can cause his lips to be that [color].”
And another opined that the color might be the result of “his lips [being] dry from the cold.”
