Prince William and Kate Middleton have endured a lot this year, and one expert thinks the couple’s next appearance will be a ‘show of solidarity’ for their marriage and for those going through health struggles.
Prince William and Kate Middleton have had quite a year. At the start of 2024, Kate took a leave of absence from royal life in order to focus on her health, and eventually, she revealed that she had been diagnosed with cancer. William made a number of appearances without Kate this year as a result, and everyone has been rooting for the princess.
Now that Kate is cancer free, she has been making more royal appearances. But the couple’s end-of-year appearance is one that an expert calls a “show of solidarity.”
Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Christmas appearance will show ‘solidarity’
William and Kate were at the center of plenty of rumors earlier this year as Kate navigated her diagnosis without telling the public. Her absence caused many people to create conspiracy theories that something was wrong in her marriage, which ultimately wasn’t the case. Still, it likely wasn’t easy for her and William.
William said in an interview while attending the Earth Shot awards that he was extremely “proud” of Kate for dealing with everything so well. Now, one expert believes the couple’s Christmas appearance is a great way for them to show “solidarity” not just with each other but with others who have gone through similar health battles.
“The event itself, with both of them expected to attend church in the morning as is traditional, is likely to be a memorable show of solidarity,” royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told Express. “This is what Catherine has endeavored to do with her illness, reaching out to fellow sufferers. It is a reason for her being shortlisted for Person of the Year by Time Magazine.”
He also added that William and Kate are looking forward to relaxing with their children during the week between Christmas and New Year’s. Christmas of 2023 was Kate’s last public appearance before revealing her cancer diagnosis in March.
Prince William and Kate Middleton will appear more together in 2025
Kate announced in late summer 2024 that she was cancer free, but while her treatment was done, she likely still needed time to rest and recover. She made a few appearances in the fall, but she still has not returned to full capacity. William hinted in an interview that things could return to a more normal state in 2025, saying that he was optimistic about taking some trips with Kate.
William has remained at Kate’s side throughout her journey, and while some people speculated there was something wrong in the couple’s marriage, it looks like they have come out of this stronger than ever.
