After many twists and turns, the Paradise Season 1 finale is finally here. But what about the Hulu original series’ future? Ahead, find out whether Dan Fogelman’s post-apocalyptic thriller is coming back for a second season.
[Spoiler alert: This article contains spoilers from the March 4, 2025, episode of Paradise Season 1, Episode 8: “The Man Who Kept the Secrets.”]
‘Paradise’ Season 2 is happening
Get excited, fans of Paradise, because Secret Service agent Xavier Collins’s (Sterling K. Brown) story isn’t over yet. That’s right. Paradise Season 2 has received the green light from Hulu.
Brown announced the show’s renewal in a video clip posted to Paradise’s official Instagram account on Feb. 20, 2025. In it, the Golden Globe winner held up his hand with “Season 2” written on it in black ink in a nod to what Dr. Gabriela Torabi (Sarah Shahi) did during Xavier’s interrogation after President Cal Bradford’s (James Marsden) death early in Season 1.
Best of all, Paradise Season 2 may not be the end of the show. Creator Dan Fogelman reportedly envisioned it as a three-season drama. “In terms of big twists coming in, I can tell you this, [Fogelman] has conceived, as a show, three seasons,” Brown told TV Insider. “He’s like, ‘I’ve got three seasons in my head.’ And one thing I’ve learned is when Dan says, ‘I’ve got three seasons,’ he means, ‘I’ve got three seasons,’” Brown said.
The two previously worked together on the hit NBC family drama, This Is Us. It ended after six seasons, which Brown said was Fogelman’s plan.
“He said on This Is Us, ‘I’ve got six seasons in my head,’” Brown recalled. “We did six seasons, and it went that way. And I think for him, and the way that he pitched it to me, it’s sort of like an exploration of similar events from different standpoints.”
The next season of ‘Paradise’ centers around exploring the outside world
It’s time to leave the bunker in Paradise Season 2. This will come as no surprise to viewers after watching the Season 1 finale when—spoiler—the episode ended with Xavier piloting a plane.
“I think in Season 2, the idea is to explore what happened to the rest of the world,” Brown, who is also an executive producer on the series, told the outlet. “What does that look like?”
As for his character specifically, Xavier’s motivation centers around his wife, Dr. Teri Rogers-Collins (Enuka Okuma). “The main exploration and the main question will be: Is his wife really alive? That will be a propelling, sort of, drive to Season 2.”
Filming on the next season of ‘Paradise’ is starting soon
Good news, Paradise fans. It looks like the wait for the show’s next season is not years away. Why? Production on Season 2 is, according to Variety, coming very soon. Filming is set to begin in the spring of 2025. Technically, that could mean anywhere from March 20, 2025, the first day of spring, or later.
Expect a premiere date in the coming months. Until then, Paradise Season 1 is streaming on Hulu. It will also air on ABC beginning April 7, 2025, at 10 p.m. ET.
