Nineties one hit wonder unrecognisable as he returns to pop 30 years after massive hit

NINETIES star Ini Kamoze is unrecognisable after making a comeback 30 years after his one hit wonder.

The Jamaican artist released the legendary track Here Comes The Hotstepper in 1994.

Now 66, he is making a return to music after teaming up with rising star Lila Ike.

Lila, who boasts 389,000 followers on Instagram, released her debut studio album The ExPerience in May 2020.

The duo worked on new song I Want You, which was produced by Kareem Remus Burrell for XTM.Nation.

Ini’s track that opens with the iconic “nah, nah, nah, nah, nah” shot him to fame.

The single topped the US Billboard Hot 100 as well as record charts in Denmark and New Zealand.

It also reached number four on the UK Singles Chart.

It was often referred to simply as Hotstepper, which is slang for someone running from the police.

He first began his career in the early 1980s, making his first single World Affairs in 1981.

Ini founded his own label, releasing a compilation album Selekta Showcase, which featured a popular single titled Stress.

In recent pictures he was seen performing wearing an oversized white shirt over a red shirt,

He tucked his trademark dreadlocks under a red hat and covered his eyes with a pair of dark shades.

The musician has a fuller figure than he did in his heyday.

He has also written a book on the history of Port Royal, a town in southeastern Jamaica.
