A double amputee hopes to prove she’s as tough as any other survivalist in the ‘Naked and Afraid’ Season 18 premiere.

Another season of the hit survival series Naked and Afraid is coming to Discovery Channel.

When does the new season of ‘Naked and Afraid’ start?

Naked and Afraid Season 18 premieres Sunday, March 9 on Discovery Channel.

The new season will challenge survivalists to endure some of the toughest conditions on earth, from the sweltering jungles in the Philippines to the rugged bluffs of the American Midwest, all without clothing, food, or water.

Highlights of the new season include the return of Naked and Afraid vets Steven Lee Hall Jr. and Laura Zerra, who will take on the challenge of mentoring rookie survivalists. Other episodes will follow a four-person tribe as they take on an ancient, and possibly haunted, Mayan jungle and two expert survival instructors who are stalked by king cobras in the Philippine jungle.

The wild hazards are real, but sometimes, the toughest part of the Naked and Afraid experience is a person’s partner.

“Jarrell is being a little bit of a man baby,” Elli declares in the trailer for the new season.

“I’m very nervous about my partner,” another survivalist worries.

Naked and Afraid Season 18 begins with an inspiring episode featuring Mandy, the first double amputee to appear on the show.

“I get to be the first person on Naked and Afraid with no f***ing legs and I think that’s pretty damn cool,” she says in the episode.

Mandy lost her legs 10 years ago in a devastating accident, but that hasn’t stopped her from living a remarkable life. She became the first bilateral amputee to summit Mount Kilimanjaro and is now ready to take on another extreme survival challenge. Alongside her partner, Jonny, she’ll fight to last 21 days in Belize’s dense and dangerous rainforest.

“My motto is tell me that I can’t and I will show you that I can,” Mandy says.

Jonny is ready to work with his partner so that they can both complete the challenge.

“I’m here to pick her up when she’s down, and she’s here to tell me what to do,” he says.

In the second half of the premiere, a fitness competitor named Amanda teams up with Ernie, a Naked and Afraid fan page moderator as he puts his armchair survival training to the test in a 14-day challenge.

Naked and Afraid Season 18 premieres Sunday, March 9 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Discovery Channel. Episodes stream the next day on Max.
