Thanks, I Hate It

Mykelti Padron has made a living on Patreon, but her mother, Christine Brown, isn’t crazy about the idea. Mykelti shared the news during a Patreon upload.

Mykelti Padron has made a living by sharing Sister Wives tea on Patreon. Her sister, Gwendlyn Brown, briefly did the same. While fans of the series think the Brown kids have a right to capitalize on their family’s celebrity status, Christine Brown isn’t OK with it. Mykelti recently opened up about her mother’s feelings on the topic, and it’s not positive. Is Christine Brown a hypocrite for her take on the situation?

Christine Brown doesn’t like her kids discussing the show online

Mykelti Padron has spent the last year supporting her family partially with a Patreon account that spills the tea on her family life and the lives of her famous parents. While Mykelti spends a lot of time talking about her own life, she often shares a morsel of information that spills the tea on her famous mom.

According to AOL, Mykelti answered fan questions in a recent Patreon upload. During the Q&A, she admitted that her mother doesn’t like that she is talking about the show and their family on Patreon. She said while her mother “supports” the endeavor, she doesn’t like it. She suggested that Christine would prefer it if her kids didn’t discuss the series. Mykelti tried to pass it off as if there was no issue. She insists that her mother is “fine” with the setup but would prefer it if things were different. Still, many listeners were bothered by the admission.

While most of the Brown kids have opted for a private life, a few have decided to share information about their famous family online. In a telling coincidence, the three most outspoken Brown kids belong to Christine Brown and Kody Brown. Besides Mykelti Padron, Gwendlyn Brown also had a Patreon account. She gave up the account after Garrison Brown’s sudden death. Paedon Brown opted to speak to several podcasts and publications immediately after Christine left Kody Brown. He has since gone mostly quiet. Most of Janelle Brown’s children maintain a low profile on social media. Meri Brown’s child doesn’t speak about their famous family, either.

Is Christine Brown a hypocrite for her take?

While Sister Wives fans have been critical of Mykelti Padron in the past, her recent admission has some viewers questioning Christine Brown and her motives. Suggesting her children shouldn’t make money off of the show that invaded and dismantled their childhoods, all while she does exactly that, makes her a complete hypocrite.

Reddit users were quick to speak out against Christine after the revelation. One user noted that Christine spent years selling her children’s story to TLC for a payday. She’s used that money to fund her current lifestyle and new marriage. Christine has even leveraged the show into other ventures, like a Sister Wives-themed AirBnB property. If she’s allowed to profit from the show, her children should be welcome to do so if they wish. In fact, it has brought up questions about how and if the children were paid for their time on the series when they were still minors.
