Music megastars shelve plans for 2025 UK and European tour after promoters fail to make dates work

THE Rolling Stones have shelved plans for a major tour this summer.

The veteran rockers and their promoters had not been able to make the dates work for proposed gigs across the UK and Europe, insiders said.

But Sir Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, both 81, and Ronnie Wood, 77, were said to be hopeful that the shows could go ahead in 2026.

A source said: “Promoters had been locked in discussions with The Stones about coming to the UK and Europe.

“There had been hope the gigs would take place this summer but it’s not worked out.

“And now it’s been shelved. But Mick, Keith and Ronnie love to perform live shows so there’s a hope that the promoters can lock in dates for next year.”

Fan sites suggested gig were pencilled in for stadiums in cities including London, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Paris and Copenhagen.

The band, formed in 1962, last performed live last summer in the US — where they sold more than 848,000 tickets for their Hackney Diamonds tour.

The 20 stadium concerts grossed more than £188million and proved the Stones were still one of the best live — and most bankable — bands in the world.

The tour was in support of their 24th album, Hackney Diamonds, which went straight to the top of the charts in October 2023.

It was their first album of original tunes since A Bigger Bang in 2005.
