Muse finish UK tour on a high with packed out London O2 arena show

IT was a short but sweet run of UK dates for Muse, who ended their third and final Will Of The People show on a high.

The group, led by frontman Matt Bellamy, got off to a great start with the electrifying Interlude and Hysteria.

As flames billowed, Matt was in his element soaking up the screams of the 18,000 fans at The O2 Arena.

After smashing two guitars on stage, he handed them to the crowd and grinned with delight at the reaction to cult hits Time Is Running Out and We Are F***ing F***ed.

Then Plug In Baby blew me away, along with Super Massive Black Hole, Uprising and Starlight.

But, watching the crowd, it seemed that not everyone was impressed with the stop-start nature of the gig, which included the band taking breaks that slowed down the flow of the entertainment.

It was a great night but I was left wanting more.

Easy Life’s hard time over name

INDIE band Easy Life are being forced to change their name after becoming embroiled in a row with easyJet’s owners.

The Leicester lads have been threatened with legal action over the band’s monicker, which is the same as online home and garden retailer easyLife, linked to the easyGroup, which owns the budget airline.

The band, who have scored two No2 albums, said on social media: “They’re forcing us to change our name or take up a costly legal battle which we could never afford.

“Although we find this whole situation hilarious, we are virtually powerless against such a massive corporation.”

The five-piece added: “For those of you who bought gig tickets and ended up on a budget flight to Tenerife, I apologise. For the rest of you, thank you for your support.”

Discussing the name, a spokesperson for easyGroup said last night:

“Other companies (including easyLife) pay annual royalties for its use as part of their business strategy. We cannot allow unauthorised third parties to simply use it free, gratis and for nothing.”

Madness.

Matty’s in sorry state at US gig

MATTY HEALY has apologised to fans for his “hurtful” behaviour following a string of controversies.

This year he has been accused of doing a Nazi salute on stage, badmouthed rapper Ice Spice and simulated a sex act on a cameraman during a gig.

On stage in the US, he said: “Some of my actions have hurt people so I apologise to those people and pledge to do better.

“But I think it’s also important I express my intentions so everybody knows that there is no ill will coming from me

“As an artist, I want to create an environment for myself to perform where not everything I do is taken literally.”

He added: “I have performed exaggerated versions of myself on other stages like in print or on podcasts in an often misguided attempt of fulfilling the character role of the 21st century rock star.”

Take That crown Jools

TAKE THAT will play TV show Later . . . With Jools Holland for the first time in their long careers this month.

Recorded at London’s Alexandra Palace Theatre, the BBC Two set on October 21 will see Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald play a string of tracks from their upcoming ninth album, This Life.

Gary teased: “What a great evening of fun and music. Having the full live band with us to perform our new songs and in such a beautiful venue too.”

How have they never been on the show before?
