Michael Zegen says there were “a lot of tears” when the cast wrapped the final episode of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.”
“I definitely cried,” he told Page Six exclusively at the New York premiere of “When You Finish Saving the World” earlier this week. “It actually took me by surprise. All these memories start playing back.”
“I mean, this was a big part of my life,” Zegen, 43, continued about the Amazon show, which just completed its fifth and final season. “And I love the people involved and we’re like a family, so it was sad.
“We had wrapped at four in the morning, so we were all exhausted. It was a very long week and we were all there every day, all week long, and we were there to support each other. So, it was just very emotional.”
Though the filming has ended, Zegen — who plays Miriam “Midge” Maisel’s estranged husband, Joel Maisel — managed to come away with a few of his character’s outfits.

“They had a costume sale, so we were allowed to kind of pick and choose,” the “Boardwalk Empire” star explained. “I took home a few of my shoes that I thought were really cool and a lot of ties that are vintage and just random stuff, like sweaters and jackets that they made for me.”
To celebrate the end of the critically acclaimed show, the New Jersey-born actor treated himself to a European jaunt.
“I never spend any money, ever. So, I was splurging,” he exclaimed, adding that he even flew business class.
Zegen was at the “When You Finish Saving the World” premiere to support longtime pal Jesse Eisenberg in his directorial debut. Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo, and the film’s stars, Finn Wolfhard and Alisha Boe, were also in attendance.
