Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been raising their two children in California for a few years, and King Charles reportedly does not have much contact with the kids.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been raising their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, in California for the last four years. Harry and Meghan left the royal family back in 2020 after they were disappointed with the way that both the press and the royal family were treating Meghan.

These days, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet don’t see much of their relatives, but a source close to Harry and Meghan says that Meghan is open to letting Charles spend time with his grandkids “at some point.”

Meghan Markle would let King Charles see her children with better security

Harry made the decision a while back that he would no longer bring his wife and kids to the United Kingdom. After stepping down from their royal roles, Harry and Meghan were stripped of the same security that the other royals have. Harry took the British Home Office to court in an attempt to get it back, but he was unsuccessful. He has since said that he has no intention of bringing his family back to the UK until their security situation is much better.

As a result, Charles has not seen his grandchildren in more than two years. However, a source close to Meghan told the UK’s Closer Magazine that the duchess is willing to let Charles spend time with the kids if things with security improve.

“Now, if it is deemed safe from a security standpoint, it’s likely she’ll give her blessing for Harry to take Archie and Lilibet to see their grandpa, King Charles, at some point,” the source said, according to Express. “And in terms of logistics, having a place in Portugal will make that easier, because Meghan can fly over with the kids without feeling trapped.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Portugal purchase could change things

Harry and Meghan recently bought a home in Portugal, which has significance because it is their first time returning to Europe in a part-time capacity since they stepped away from the royal spotlight. It could change the dynamic between them and the royal family. Portugal is a short flight from the UK, so it’s a nice landing point because it allows the couple to be far enough away from Harry’s family that they don’t have to see them often, but much closer than they are now in California.

As far as anyone knows, Harry and Meghan do plan to continue living full-time in California and use the Portugal home for vacation.
