Meghan Markle has what is perhaps the most fitting keepsake from Suits. No, not Louis Litt’s (Rick Hoffman) customized coffee mugs or Mike Ross’s (Patrick J. Adams) messenger bag. Rather, something fitting for her character, Rachel Zane, that was a staple on the USA legal drama from the get-go. Ahead, find out the “one thing” the Duchess of Sussex kept from Suits.
Meghan spent seven years playing Rachel Zane on ‘Suits’
Meghan’s time playing Rachel on Suits spanned 2011 to 2017. The show ran for another two seasons after her departure, going off the air in 2019.
Meghan starred in seven seasons of the legal drama as the love interest—and co-worker—of Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams). Over the years, her character rose through the firm’s ranks, eventually going from paralegal to lawyer.
Meghan left the series in 2018 as her wedding to Prince Harry neared. The Suits Season 7 finale marked her final appearance on the show. In the episode, her character’s life aligned with her own, showing Rachel and Mike getting married.
Adams has since revealed on “Sidebar: A Suits Watch Podcast” that he and Meghan acted out their characters’ first meeting, seen above, during the audition process. “It was pretty clear that she was gonna get the part from the minute we did the chemistry read,” Adams said. “It was just so much easier than it was with anybody else.”
She still has Rachel’s pencil skirt from the first episode of ‘Suits’

Speaking to People about the premiere of her Netflix show (With Love, Meghan dropped on March 4, 2025, shortly before the streamer announced Season 2), Meghan casually revealed the keepsake she has from Suits—a staple in her character’s wardrobe.
“It’s a time capsule for me,” Meghan said of the series. “I still have the pencil skirt from the first episode! That’s the one thing I kept.” So the skirt Rachel (Meghan) wears in the aforementioned clip is presumably somewhere in Meghan’s closet at the Montecito, Calif., home she shares with the Duke of Sussex.
While in Canada for the 2025 Invictus Games, Meghan made a nod to Rachel’s choice of clothing during a Team USA breakfast. “We told her we saw her on Suits,” Leandra Moehring, a competitor at the games, told People in February 2025. Meghan’s response? “‘I’m sorry I’m not wearing a pencil skirt.’”
Meghan on leaving acting for life with Prince Harry: ‘It’s a new chapter’
Meghan opened up about saying goodbye to Suits during her and Harry’s 2017 engagement interview. “I don’t see it as giving anything up, I just see it as a change,” the now-43-year-old said, per ABC. “It’s a new chapter, right.”
“For me, once we hit the 100 episode marker,” Meghan continued, “I thought, ‘You know what, I have I have ticked this box.’ And I feel really proud of the work I’ve done there.”
In the years since, Meghan’s reiterated that she has no plans to return to acting, telling Variety in a 2022 interview that she’s “done.” However, she’s not exactly ruling it out completely. “I guess never say never,” Meghan said. “But my intention is to absolutely not.”
For fans, that means watching Meghan on re-runs of Suits. The series, which now includes a spin-off set in Los Angeles, Calif., is streaming on Netflix and Peacock. There’s also the possibility she’ll reunite with Adams and Sarah Rafferty (Donna Paulsen) on the podcast about the legal drama they co-host.
