After stepping down from his role within the royal family, Prince Harry made his feelings about his stepmother, Queen Camilla, quite clear. During the promotional tour for his memoir Spare, the duke claimed that his stepmom was “dangerous” and in his book labeled her a “villain” who he “thought had sacrificed [him] on her personal PR altar.”
Something that remains a bit of a mystery though is what Harry’s wife Meghan’s relationship with Queen Camilla was like.
The former Suits star hasn’t said much of anything about Camilla, but now something she posted has many royal watchers convinced she’s extending an olive branch to the queen.
Here’s more on that, and how Camilla may celebrate her birthday this year.
The ‘Happy Birthday’ message Meghan posted
As the queen marked her 78th birthday on July 17, her estranged daughter-in-law took to her Instagram Stories with a birthday message that some believe was for Camilla.
“Sending birthday love (both near and far) to my ladies,” Meghan wrote. The message was posted with a white heart emoji and bottles of the duchess’s As Ever rosé wine in baskets and gift boxes.
Meghan did not mention who the wine was for or any information about where she was sending it, so it could just simply be PR for the rosé . But some fans are hopeful that perhaps the former working royal is attempting to send an olive branch to the queen after it was leaked that Harry’s senior aides had a meeting with King Charles’ rep about a “peace summit.”
As for Camilla’s other stepchildren, the Prince and Princess of Wales, they sent her public wishes on her special day via social media, writing: “Happy Birthday to Her Majesty!” with a cake emoji.
How Queen Camilla will spend her birthday
Jack Stooks was King Charles’ senior gardener at the royal’s Highgrove estate for more than two decades. He shared how the queen likes to celebrate her birthday.
Speaking on behalf of Prime Casino, Stooks told Showbiz Cheat Sheet: “With Camilla’s birthday, she is quite a home and family-oriented person. She does really love having her family around. A perfect birthday for her would be having her children and rest of her family around, and her husband.
“If she’s in London, it will likely be with her husband and they might just have a nice private dinner at one of the royal residences. But if she’s at Raymill at home, she may have her daughter or son around. She also loves cooking; she’s a great cook.”
Stooks talked about what type of gifts King Charles would give to his wife on her birthday as well.
“Giftwise, she will probably be given just some jewellery from Charles,” Stooks said before adding, “Or she might not necessarily want anything too much. Perhaps just a nice dinner and some flowers, something nice for her garden at Raymill, like a nice tree or a shrub. They don’t like extravagant gifts, they’re quite lowkey and they don’t have that way about them.”
