Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green Weren’t Allowed to See Each Other’s Shows

Before Megan Fox even found the opportunity to meet Machine Gun Kelly, she was in a relationship with Brian Austin Green for 16 years. Similarly to how Kelly and the Transformers star crossed paths, she and Green also met while collaborating on a project. Despite the pair both being actors, however, Green and Fox had a peculiar rule about watching each other’s work.

Brian Austin Green opened up about his and Megan Fox’s one rule

Although Green was famous in his own right by the time he met Fox, Fox had no idea who he was. She first laid eyes on him on the set of the 2004 sitcom Hope & Faith, which the former couple both guest starred in. In a 2019 interview with People, Green revealed that Fox was drawn to him more because of his looks than his stardom.

“When we met, Megan was like, ‘He looks like Justin Timberlake.’ That’s all she cared about. She grew up with ‘N Sync,” Green said.

Fox was so smitten by Green that she pursued him even after the actor rejected her. However, she eventually won him over, which sparked their long and sometimes turbulent relationship.

Green also noted that Fox didn’t watch 90210 back in the day, which explained why Green was a complete stranger to her back then.

“Her older sister was a huge fan of 90210, but Megan didn’t know it at all,” Green said.

But it seemed Fox never caught up with her ex-husband’s series even after the two married. In a resurfaced interview with Vulture, Green was asked if the Subservience star ever watched the actor’s old show. He preferred if she didn’t since it would’ve broken a surprising rule the pair came up with.

“She tries to sneak them on SOAPnet,” Green said about Fox. “And then she gets in trouble for it. We have a rule: We don’t watch each other’s stuff.”

When the publication pressed Green on what 90210 episodes he would’ve liked Fox to watch, the Smallville actor refused to name any.

Have Brian Austin Green and Megan Fox ever done a movie together?

Despite being together for so long, Fox and Green rarely collaborated on projects. Apart from Hope & Faith, Fox guest-starred on Brian Austin Green’s shortlived sitcom Wedding Band. Additionally, the duo also lent their combined talents to the Funny Or Die skit Hot For Teachers. The movies they did together are even scarcer. Green only made a brief cameo in Fox’s 2008 comedy How to Lose Friends & Alienate People.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the last project they were supposed to do was the family feature Dakota. Fox was supposed to play a widow and single mother in who’d end up bonding with a soldier played by Green. The film was set to be directed by Andrea Iervolino from a screenplay John Harrington wrote. Iervolino felt having the real-life power couple do the movie would’ve only enhanced Dakota’s authenticity.

“Having Megan and Brian star together is really cool for us as we certainly won’t have to manufacture the kind of chemistry and magic that makes a family film like this so special!” she said. “This is the type of lighthearted yet adventurous material that audiences are really responding to these days, so we’re very happy to be making more films in this space and know Dakota will touch on the soft spots audiences have for feel-good entertainment.”

However, plans seemed to fall through. Dakota, which was eventually released in 2022, ended up starring actor Abbie Cormish instead. It’s unclear if Fox’s and Green’s break-up was the reason why Dakota changed course. However, the timeline might support that theory since the pair separated in 2020. Fox would also start dating Kelly that same year as well after meeting on the set of Midnight in the Switchgrass. But unlike Green, who needed to warm up to Fox, Kelly fancied his ex-girlfriend from the start. The Bad Boys artist even admitted that he starred in the film to meet Fox.
