Matt Hancock snubbed by celeb pals as they pull out of his book launch party

I’M A Celebrity star Matt Hancock has been snubbed his famous pals as they pull out of his book launch party.

The former Health Secretary, 44, has defended his own response to the pandemic, while laying into care home bosses, ex-No10 aide Dominic Cummings and a string of others in his new book, Pandemic Diaries.

The politician is expected to throw a glitzy bash on Monday evening to celebrate the launch of his highly controversial memoirs.

However, it appears that not everyone is pleased with the tell-all book, while some have slammed his appearance on the ITV jungle show and are distancing themselves from him.

A source told The Sun: “A few people thought his I’m A Celeb appearance was terrible – they don’t want to be associated with him now so have pulled out last minute.

“The backlash about him going on the show at the same time as ‘working’ as an MP is something a few stars want to avoid, so they’ve made their excuses.”

Last month, former Made in Chelsea star Georgia Toffolo revealed that she was banned from the book launch after a scathing rant on This Morning.

Georgia – known as Toff – gave her reaction to Matt being paid £400,000 to go on the ITV show after The Sun exposed his Covid rule-breaking affair with aide Gina Coladangelo.

She claims it didn’t go down well with Matt’s staff, telling hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: “This will make you laugh.

“My friend in Westminster told me that I was on the guest list for his big book launch in a couple of weeks, but after that I’ve been scrapped off.”

He added: “I’m walking the dog that night anyway… It really made me giggle. I wouldn’t have gone.

She said on This Morning: “Normally I’m pretty soft on the Tories, but I do think this is disgraceful.

“The man who was in control of our health going through this pandemic, not only did he cheat on his wife and get caught, he’s now leaving his constituents to go to Australia to earn loads of money and flaunting it in front of people who lost so many loved ones and went through the mot horrific pain.”

It looks like his fellow campmates may also swerve the bash tonight.

Matt is only followed by five of his campmates on social media after leaving the jungle.

He made it to the final after viewers voted for him to take part in the most Bushtucker trials as a revenge for his many mistakes during the Covid pandemic.

But despite helping to feed his hungry co-stars some of them have appeared to distance themselves following the end of I’m A Celeb.

At the time of writing only Owen Warner, Babatunde Aleshe, Mike Tindall, Scarlette Douglas, and Seann Walsh had chosen to follow Matt on Instagram.

Show champ Jill Scott, singer Boy George, Loose Women star Charlene White, DJ Chris Moyles, Corrie star Sue Cleaver and presenters Ant and Dec have yet to press the follow button days after the final aired.

ITV viewers watched Matt and Boy George’s ongoing feud in camp.

They had an awkward encounter after Boy George told Seann Walsh: “I can’t stand Matt.

“I have tried to like him, and I’ve failed. I find him slimy; I find him slippery.”

He later told Matt: “I have been hating on you, I have to be honest.

“I sometimes feel like you don’t say what you mean and you’re not particularly direct.”

While radio star Chris also made his feelings known about the MP.

Previously discussing MP Matt Hancock being in the jungle alongside him, Chris had detailed a “tense” conversation with the former Health Secretary.

He said: “There was a moment we got into a conversation and it got quite tense, I said, so when’s your book out? And he was like next month and I didn’t know he had a book.

“The reason I got annoyed is because Seann, who did something in his personal life and it hurt his career and mental health, came on the show to basically say I’m really not a bad guy can I start again – which is really honest.

“Matt Hancock kind of dived around a few questions I thought, and then said, ‘I’m basically asking for forgiveness’ and at which point I had to walk out of camp and just get away, because I personally found that quite fake and it really wound me up.”
