‘My Mom Jayne’ will debut on HBO in June 2025.
Mariska Hargitay’s new movie is a deeply personal look at the life of her mom, Jayne Mansfield.
The Law & Order: SVU star’s feature film directorial debut, My Mom Jayne, will premiere this June on HBO and Max. Through interviews and never-before-seen photos and home movies, the documentary follows Hargitay as she “grapples with her mother’s public and private legacy and discovers the layers and depths of who Jayne was.”
Mansfield was a silver screen icon and sex symbol known for her roles in movies like The Wayward Bus, Too Hot to Handle, and Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? She died in 1967 at age 34 in a car crash in Louisiana. Three of her five children, including a 3-year-old Hargitay, were in the car at the time. All survived the accident.
“This movie is a labor of love and longing. It’s a search for the mother I never knew, an integration of a part of myself I’d never owned, and a reclaiming of my mother’s story and my own truth,” Hargitay said. “I’ve always believed there is strength in vulnerability, and the process of making this film has confirmed that belief like never before.”
