LOVE Island star Mal Nicol has taken a swipe at Sammy Root – saying he “backtracked” and should have “owned” his behaviour.
Edinburgh beauty Mal caught the eye of Sammy when she entered the villa as a bombshell and he quickly told her that he “had more feelings for her in two days” that he had for Jess Harding in two weeks.

The comment was revealed during an explosive Movie Night, leaving blonde babe Jess in tears.
Mal has now called her former flame out for his actions – saying he should have owned it rather than brush it off as a bit of “banter”.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun: “I have absolutely no regrets, I was true to myself, I was me. I couldn’t ask for a better experience, I was authentic.
I think Jess and Sammy might make it to the final – I’m happy for them.
“At the end of the day it’s genuine and they both reciprocate it then that’s all that matters.
“He said that to me and at the end of the day if you say something just own it, don’t backtrack which he did, he backtracked. If you’re going to say something, then just admit that’s how you feel in the moment. He was backtracking and I was like ‘what the hell’.
I would never go there again, we’re very different people, we got on like a house on fire. That’s what the whole experiment is, you’re in an environment where you’re with people you wouldn’t usually be with. It was a great exprience but at the end of the day we would not socialise on the outside world at all.

I wasn’t shocked to see Kady go, they weren’t given a chance to explore which is shame. I feel like maybe Mitch…give someone else a chance. I don’t know about Mitch and Ella [Barnes], maybe we need to see it grow.
She’s a bombshell, she’s got to do what she’s got to do.
“I just love Whitney, regardless of who she’s with she’s going to win. Lochan is like a golden retriever.
“If I could see myself with any guy, it would be him. I think what Whitney’s been through, everyone’s been supporting the journey.”
Speaking about Molly Marsh’s shock return earlier in the series, she added: “Everyone deserves to be in there and everyone deserves a second change.
“I would maybe go back but there was no one there for me. Who knows about the All Star series, I would never say no.”
However, any dating shows may be on hold for the foreseeable after Casa Amor boy Zachary Ashford revealed that he’s set his sights on Mal after wowing her on a date.
Zachary told The Sun: “We’ve been spending a lot of time, me and Mal. We’ve had a double date, me and Mal and Gabby and Kodie. It’s early doors at the moment.
When asked if he thought that a romantic connection could develop between him and Mal, Zachary said: “You never know, she’s a good looking girl.
“I’d be stupid to not see where things go, we get on really well but it’s early doors at the minute, we’ll see.”
