Liza Minnelli sings at friend Ben Vereen’s cabaret show

The legendary Liza Minnelli made a rare public appearance over the weekend — and even broke into song.

The icon made news after she appeared frail and confused during last year’s Oscar ceremony.

But she seemed spry as she joined her long time friend and fellow Broadway legend Ben Vereen for a duet during his cabaret show, “Stepping Out,” at the Catalina Jazz Club in Los Angeles.

The pair did a version of the tune “Quiet Love,” with Vereen singing on stage while Minnelli repeated the lyrics on a mic at her table.

Minnelli also told the crowd about the first time she saw Vereen perform during a show by choreographer and director Bob Fosse, saying, “The first time I saw you on stage, I couldn’t breathe.”

“I held [Fosse’s] hand so strongly . . . And I said, ‘What the hell? Where did you find this man?’” she recalled.

At the end of the song, the crowd gave a standing ovation, with Minnelli, who stood with the help of a friend, waving to the crowd while steadying herself on her pal’s shoulder.

Both Minnelli and Vereen appeared in several Fosse projects, Minelli most notably as Sally Bowles in “Cabaret” and her own show, “Liza with a Z,” and Vereen in “Sweet Charity,” “Pippin,” and in the Fosse biopic, “All That Jazz.”

Vereen was also joined on stage by Tiffany Haddish, who sang Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary (Rolling on a River)” and Wayne Brady.

In October 2022, Minnelli and Vereen were spotted together wearing matching red outfits at LMU Theatre Arts’ last showing of “Cabaret.”

In July 2022, Minnelli appeared at friend Michael Feinstein’s concert at the Arboretum in LA on Saturday with a concert goer telling Page Six she appeared “very coherent and in good spirits.”

Concerns were raised about her health following an appearance at last year’s Oscar’s where she appeared in a wheelchair and seemed befuddled.

Minnelli seemed confused during the broadcast when she held up her cue cards and said “Now what am I? I don’t quite understand” which prompted Lady Gaga, who was on stage with her, to hold her hand and say, “I got it.”

Her longtime pal Feinstein came forward after, claiming she was “shaken,” and “discombobulated,” because producers forced her to use the wheelchair.
