Lena Dunham makes rare appearance for first time in 6 months as Girls star spends ‘peaceful’ time out of spotlight

LENA Dunham thrilled fans when she made a rare appearance for the first time in 6 months.

The Girls star, now 38, has shunned fame over the years and instead is enjoying spending a “peaceful” time out of spotlight.

Despite Lena fame from her HBO series Girls, which she wrote, directed and starred in, in recent years she has taken a step back from the spotlight.

The star made a rare appearance at a rally for the Trans Day of Visibility hosted by the Christopher Street Project.

Speaking from the podium, she addressed the crowd of advocates and allies.

Lena spoke out in support of the Christopher Street Project, an organization that builds and leverages political power to make equity a reality for transgender people across the country.

The last time she was spotted was when she was promoting her series Treasure, which she starred in alongside Stephen Fry.

‘PEACEFUL LIFE’

These days Lena enjoys a more slower pace of life in her new home in England with her husband Luis Felber, who she met and married in 2021.

“I am so lucky in that the last years have been, I would argue, the most peaceful of my life,” she told PEOPLE last year.

“Sometimes I feel like I am boring on the phone with my friends, because I have a lovely husband who I adore collaborating with.”

JUST A GIRL

Lena’s career kicked off when she wrote, directed, and starred in the semi-autobiographical independent film Tiny Furniture (2010), for which she won an Independent Spirit Award for Best First Screenplay.

This then led to her creating and starring in Girls, which she won two Golden Globes for.

The New York based show came out in April 2012 and ran for six seasons, ending in 2017.

Girls had a HUGE fans base, and viewers were disappointed when Lena made the decision to bring Hannah Horvath and friends’ story to an end.

Speaking about why she decided to not make the show anymore, Lena told Refinery 29 at the time:  “When I started working on Girls, I was single, I lived with my parents, I was figuring out my career.

“But I feel ready to turn my heart and soul and insides over to something else.

“It felt right to be turning 30 and moving into this decade with a clean slate.”
