Lauren Sánchez’s wedding day ‘something blue’ is literally out of this world

Lauren Sánchez’s “something blue” for her lavish wedding to Jeff Bezos was extremely unique.

The former journalist, 55, revealed that her blue keepsake for her wedding day was the Blue Origin space flight she took in April.

Sánchez shared in a new interview with Vogue that she carried a secret souvenir during the controversial space flight so she could bring it back for Bezos.

“Because it was literally one of the most profound experiences I’ve ever had in my life,” Sánchez said. “Seeing Earth from space, I came down and I couldn’t describe it. It was the greatest experience I’ve ever had.”

“Jeff said, ‘It’s gonna change you more than you think,’ and it completely has, visually, spiritually,” she continued.

The trip to space was so Earth-shaking for Sánchez that it even influenced her wedding dress. Her stunning high-neck lace Dolce & Gabbana wedding gown was a clear departure from her more modern red carpet style.

Sánchez shared that the show-stopping gown was inspired by the wedding dress Sophia Loren wore to marry Cary Grant in the 1958 film “Houseboat.”

“It went from ‘I want a simple, sexy modern dress’ to ‘I want something that evokes a moment,’ and where I am right now,” she noted. “I am a different person than I was five years ago.”

She attributed this to Bezos, 61.

“I went into a lot of therapy and it’s changed me in a bunch of ways. But it’s really Jeff,” she said. “Jeff hasn’t changed me. Jeff has revealed me. I feel safe. I feel seen. He lets me be me. Like I said about Sophia Loren being unapologetically free, he lets me be unapologetically free.”

Sánchez lost three and a half pounds ahead of her wedding, mainly by avoiding alcohol and limiting her salt intake. She also exercises daily.

“Some people meditate, I work out. It’s something Jeff and I do every morning,” she shared. “We have our coffee, we talk about whatever’s going on, and then we go to the gym.”

Sánchez married the Amazon founder in a star-studded wedding ceremony in Venice, Italy, on Friday. Shortly after, she changed her Instagram handle to Lauren Sánchez Bezos. She also deleted her entire grid, leaving only a single wedding celebration photo on the account.

The Blue Origin space flight was relentlessly mocked online by fellow celebrities like Jessica Chastain, Olivia Wilde and Martha Stewart. But Sánchez defended the all-female mission in an interview with People.

“I get really fired up. I would love to have them come to Blue Origin and see the thousands of employees that don’t just work here but they put their heart and soul into this vehicle,” she told the outlet.
