Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky are still seperated, despite not filing for divorce yet. Richards say she doesn’t know if Umansky wants to get back together because he’s never said as much.
Kyle Richards spent much of season 14 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills excusing Mauricio Umansky’s poor behavior. The married couple separated in 2023, but neither has filed for divorce yet. The decision not to file has left social media followers and Bravo fans confused about the nature of their relationship. Theories that Richards is hoping that Umansky will come back to her in a grand romantic gesture are plentiful. Her on-screen antics did little to disprove those theories. Still, Richards admits that, despite having regular contact, she and Umansky never discuss getting back together.
Kyle Richards admits she and Mauricio Umansky never talk about getting back together
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 14 did little to shore up Kyle Richards’ image as a strong, independent woman. While the TV personality is plenty self-assured in other aspects of her life, she was especially meek when discussing her ex, Mauricio Umansky. Fans of the series think that Richards is hoping that Umansky will return. Still, she says they never bring it up.
During the season 14 reunion special, Kyle Richards admitted that Mauricio Umansky has never once said he wants to get back together. She told host Andy Cohen that she doesn’t know whether Umansky is interested in rekindling their romance because he’s never outright stated that he is. For her part, Richards has never publicly suggested she wants to get back together with her longtime husband. Still, she has expressed regrets over the way things played out between them.
Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky’s relationship timeline
Years before Bravo came calling, Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky locked eyes in a Los Angeles nightclub. The year was 1994. The duo began dating quickly, with Umansky popping the question later that same year. They wed in 1996 and quickly expanded their family. Richards, who brought one daughter from a previous marriage into the relationship, and Umansky welcomed their first daughter together in June 1996. They welcomed two more daughters together before signing up for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
While the couple appeared stable for most of their time on the series, they announced their split in July 2023 after 27 years together. In an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that same year, Richards suggested she pushed for the split after building tension reached a boiling point. The duo never said they planned to divorce, and actually lived together for nearly a year after the announcement before Umansky finally moved out.
They still have not filed for divorce. Neither Richards nor Umansky appears to be in a rush to file, although their lack of action is likely driven by different motivations.
