Kanye “Ye” West’s recent posts on X brought Kim Kardashian back into the conversation. Kardashian and West were married from May 2014 to March 2022 and have four children together. During their marriage, the couple seemed completely in love, and West frequently praised Kardashian for her beauty and business sense. Now, we’re looking back at when Kardashian commented on West’s Twitter activity while speaking on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Kim Kardashian talked about Kanye ‘Ye’ West’s Twitter activity to Ellen DeGeneres
Kanye “Ye” West continues to cause controversy on X in 2025. He spread antisemitic and hateful rhetoric on the platform while also condemning Kim Kardashian. Kardashian disapproved of West releasing a track that included their daughter, North, and Sean “Diddy” Combs, resulting in West lashing out online.
Kardashian spoke to Ellen DeGeneres on The Ellen DeGeneres Show about West’s Twitter in 2018.
“He tweets out some interesting things,” DeGeneres said of West at the time. “He tweeted out, ‘Sometimes you have to get rid of everything.’ What does that mean? Because then you freaked out ….”
DeGeneres then showed a follow-up tweet from Kardashian in response to West’s tweet. “Wait … EVERYTHING?!?!?!” Kardashian tweeted.
“Yeah, I was very confused about that one,” the reality star noted.
“What did he mean?” DeGeneres asked.
“I don’t know,” Kardashian continued.
“But, you live with him,” DeGeneres added.
“Yeah, it didn’t mean me,” Kardashian said. She added that she didn’t know West activated his Twitter. Kardashian only found out after seeing other Twitter users re-tweet West. “And then at night, he came in and was like, ‘Did you see my tweets?’ And I was like, ‘Yes, I did see your tweets.’ I followed him back.”
Kim Kardashian listened to Kanye ‘Ye’ West’s antics in the house before he tweeted them
Kim Kardashian gave more insight into what it was like living with Kanye “Ye” West while speaking to Ellen DeGeneres. Kardashian explained that she and West lived by “rules” regarding their phones. West didn’t believe in being too connected to his technology despite his preoccupation with tweeting at the time. In 2025, it appears he still relies on the social media platform (now X) to get his views across.
“I hear him say all these things in the house … I think what he was saying about really, the everything,” Kardashian told the talk show host. “He was talking about clarity, and he always talks about how we should not have our phones first thing in the morning, and in the house, when we’re with the kids. Let’s not have our phones. It’s our rule that we really try to live by. So, i think he was talking about cleansing.”
“While he tweets it out — he’s on a phone,” DeGeneres joked.
The reality star and Beyoncé view the rapper’s current behavior as a ‘huge crisis’
An insider told In Touch Weekly that Kim Kardashian and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter have been in contact over Kanye “Ye” West’s recent X activity. West also attacked Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s youngest kids in his online rant. The two stars are allegedly “horrified” by West’s recent behavior and what they’ve had to endure. Jay-Z and Beyoncé were rumored to potentially seek legal action.
“Kim and Beyoncé have been reaching out to everyone they know that might have a shot at getting through to Kanye and convincing him to seek treatment,” the source alleged. “This is a huge crisis, and no matter how angry and disgusted they might be, there is still a sense of sadness that Kanye is on this path.”
