Kate Middleton’s Mysterious Absence Sparks Concern: ‘What’s Going On?’ Asks Royal Correspondent

Kate Middleton has not been seen publicly since sharing news she was battling cancer on March 22, 2024. It has been two months since details regarding her health have been revealed. This lengthy timeframe causes a royal correspondent to question the mystery of the princess’ absence from the public eye.

The Princess of Wales remains out of sight, 2 months after revealing cancer diagnosis

Frenzy surrounding Kate Middleton’s public disappearance swelled before she released an Instagram video sharing a cancer diagnosis in March 2024. Before that, Kate hadn’t been seen out and about since Christmas Day, 2023.

Now, Kate has mysteriously disappeared once again. It’s been two months since she released her telling video.

In it, she stated, “We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space, and privacy while I complete my treatment. My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy. I look forward to being back when I am able, but for now, I must focus on making a full recovery.”

Then, nothing. There is silence from the palace. However, Prince William did admit Kate was doing “well” during his first visit to the Isles of Scilly.

This mysterious silence concerns former BBC royal correspondent Michael Cole. In an interview for GB News America, he said, “I do worry about Catherine.”

“She said that she told her children, ‘Mummy is going to be OK.’ It was initially said she would return to public life after Easter,” Cole continued.

“It’s good news that the King’s treatment is effective, but we must wonder what is going on with Kate. At the same time, we wish her the best of good fortune and a speedy and complete recovery,” the former royal correspondent concluded.

The palace hasn’t offered a date when Kate Middleton will return to public duties

Daily Mail royal columnist Richard Eden reports that the timeline of Kate Middleton’s return to the public eye should be publicly updated. The palace has yet to offer a definitive answer as to when she will undertake public engagements again.

“Fiends I spoke to in the past few days suggest we might not see Catherine again until the autumn. And only then if she has recovered fully,” Eden wrote.

“No one wants to pressure Catherine. The only thing that matters at the moment is her getting better. She has been through an ordeal this year,” he was told by a royal source.

Kate Middleton does not need to be visible while during treatment and recovery. Therefore, she will likely continue to take whatever time she feels necessary before returning to public duties.

In her March video message, Kate revealed she was in the “early stages” of preventative chemotherapy. She did not speak on further details surrounding her cancer recovery.

Days following Kate Middleton’s cancer reveal, a United Kingdom nonprofit, Macmillan Cancer Support, revealed that visits to its website increased substantially after the her video message. Interest in the disease peaked after the public learned of Kate’s health struggles.

“Following Friday’s news, there were close to 100,000 visits to Macmillan’s information and support pages. By the end of Sunday there was a 10% increase on the same period last year and the highest for a weekend since at least March 2020,” reported Macmillan Cancer Support about public interest in the disease following the princess’ announcement.

Subsequently, search results peaked for the term “enlarged prostate” after Kate Middleton’s father-in-law, King Charles, revealed he was being treated for the disease, reported The Guardian. His declaration too, helped bring awareness to the condition.
