Find out what diets the Princess of Wales’ mother, Carole Middleton, follows plus what her fitness routine is.
After the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton) and Prince William got together, Kate’s family was thrust into the spotlight. Her parents Michael and Carole Middleton have been married since 1980 and Kate is one of three children along with Pippa and James Middleton.
Pippa garnered a ton of attention on her sister’s wedding day with the fuss made over her physique when she was photographed from behind. But many royal fans over the years have also commented on how fit their mother is as well and wondered about Carole’s diet and secret to staying fit now after turning 70.
Kate’s mother adopted a unique diet and does this to stay fit
Kate’s mom is an advocate for clean, healthy eating and grows her own vegetables. She shared that Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis enjoy picking veggies in the garden saying: “There’s no better way to encourage healthy eating than to allow your grandchildren to see how food is grown and let them pick their own.”
The Daily Mail reported that before William and Kate tied the knot in 2011, Carole had been following the Dukan diet. For those who aren’t familiar with the Dukan diet, it’s similar to the keto diet but the difference is that the keto is a high-fat and moderate protein diet while the Dukan Diet is low-fat and high protein.
In more recent years, Carole is said to have favored the Sirtfood diet, which Pippa also follows. The Sirtfood diet incorporates “specific foods, such as kale, turmeric, dates, walnuts, blueberries, citrus fruits, capers, and red wine. These foods are thought to ‘activate’ sirtuins to promote metabolic health.”
The Princess of Wales’ mother also has a fitness routine in which she burns off 500 calories an hour while swimming to improve core strength.
Carole’s also been praised for how she handles her role as mother-in-law to the future king
Grant Harrold was King Charles’ butler for seven years. During his time working for the now-monarch, his duties included that of valet, housekeeper, house manager, and driver. Harrold also looked after Prince William and Kate whenever they stayed at Highgrove House.
Speaking on behalf of JeffBet Harrold said: “Carole has played her role as mother-in-law to the future King perfectly. She’s very supportive of both Kate and William and helps them out a lot but also allows them to have their own life with their family. And her and William are really close and they treat him just like one of the family.”
The former royal butler added that Carole “has supported her daughter through everything and all the good and bad things that have happened including in her relationship with William. She has been there every step of the way, just like any mum would, but probably even more so because Catherine was joining the royal family, which is a daunting task and Carole has given her the stability and love to be able to deal with that.
“Nobody ever really expects their daughter to marry the future king so Carole’s had to do it her own way but Kate’s been brought up very well and had a lot of love [from] her parents.”
