Kate Middleton told Meghan Markle to ‘sit at the back’ if she attended coronation

A royal expert claims that Kate Middleton put the kibosh on Meghan Markle attending King Charles’ coronation.

“We must all be grateful that Kate, in the end I think, prevented Meghan from coming and said she ‘wouldn’t have her there under any circumstances,’” former BBC journalist Tom Bower said on GB News Wednesday.

Bower alleges that the Princess of Wales also gave Markle a warning: “If she [Meghan] did come, she’d have to sit at the back.”

Buckingham Palace confirmed on Wednesday that Prince Harry will attend his father’s coronation in May, but the “Suits” alum will remain in California with their children, Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie, whose 4th birthday falls on the same day as the event.

Page Six exclusively reported that Markle, 41, felt it would be “inauthentic” if she attended the ceremony, as relations between her and the royal family remain icy.

“They had to make a decision that felt genuine and authentic, especially after everything that has been said and all the things that have gone down,” an insider familiar with the family told Page Six.

Bower described the 38-year-old prince’s decision, which came after lengthy negotiations, as an “ugly compromise.”

“Harry’s presence is constitutionally important,” the “Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors” author explained.

“After all, God forbid something happens to [Prince William and his children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis], and all of them died — we’d have King Harry on the throne after Charles, so he’s got to be there,” he added.

Bower also explained why Prince Harry will likely not appear with the working members of the royal family on the Buckingham Palace balcony following the coronation.

“If he let Harry come on the balcony, he’d have to have Prince Andrew on the balcony and to have two renegade princes in front of the public like that would be a very bad start to King Charles’ reign,” the royal expert said.

Middleton, 41, and Markle have had a tumultuous relationship since the latter started dating Harry in 2016.

It was initially believed that the Princess of Wales made the former actress cry in a pre-wedding spat over bridesmaids attire, but Harry later revealed in his controversial memoir, “Spare,” that the opposite was actually true.

“Kate got things rolling straightaway by acknowledging that these stories in the papers about Meg making her cry were totally false,” he wrote in his book, adding that Middleton also confessed that she “was the one who made [Meghan] cry.”

Middleton also allegedly called the walkabout with the Sussexes after Queen Elizabeth II’s death the “hardest” thing she’s had to do.

Harry’s appearance at the coronation will be the first time he will be seeing his family since the bombshell memoir’s release.

Royal sources claim that the family — with the possible exceptions of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie — have no desire to have meaningful talks with Harry during his visit.
