Kate Middleton Reportedly Hopes to ‘Erase’ a Memory From Last Year That Caused Havoc In the Royal Family: ‘I Think She Will’

Kate Middleton found herself in hot water last year — before she revealed the real reason she out of the spotlight — when she was caught editing a photo.

Last year, Kate Middleton took plenty of time away from the spotlight to focus on her health. While the press and public fully understood Kate’s need for privacy after she revealed that she had been diagnosed with cancer, there was a period of about two months where the Princess of Wales was absent without explanation. And during that time, she shared a heavily-edited photo on UK’s Mother’s Day of her with her children, which the public and press quickly realized was doctored.

Kate apologized for the error, but since the people didn’t know the reason for her absence, she was in hot water. Now, a royal expert says Kate will likely try to “erase” that faux pas by posting a new photo of her with her children for this year’s holiday.

Kate Middleton’s photo edit issue last year caused problems for the royal family

Kate has always loved photography and editing. She has been known to capture sweet photos of her family, with Kate often being credited as the photographer when sharing images of her kids. But last year, when Kate was still absent without explanation, the royal family released a photo of the Princess of Wales with her three children for the UK’s Mother’s Day, which, upon closer inspection, appeared to be substantially edited. It caused chaos within the royal family because it only added to the confusion about Kate’s whereabouts. Kate ultimately admitted to editing the photo, and when she revealed her cancer diagnosis, people quickly forgave her for trying to keep things seemingly normal for as long as possible.

This year, though, one royal expert thinks Kate will release a new image of her family so as to “erase” what happened last year. According to Express, royal commentator Jennie Bond told OK! Magazine UK, “I’m sure the whole family will be wanting to erase the memory of last year’s Mothers’ Day, and it will be interesting to see whether she releases another card this time. I think she will.”

Kate Middleton has since announced that she is cancer free

While the Mother’s Day image did cause havoc in the royal family at the time, Kate’s revelation of her cancer diagnosis quickly shifted the focus to the princess taking as much time as she needed to rebuild her health.

Kate skipped most royal engagements last year, only appearing at events such as Wimbledon and Trooping the Colour, but as of January 2025, Kate had announced that her cancer was fully in remission. She has since returned to full-time royal duties.
