Candace Owens is now involved in a lawsuit against Kanye “Ye” West. Here’s what she said about getting subpoenaed for 5 years of texts between the two of them.

Kanye “Ye” West and conservative commentator Candace Owens sent shockwaves through the entertainment and political worlds when they joined forces. Their unlikely alliance, fueled by shared opinions on culture, race, and free speech, quickly became headline material. Recently, Owens posted a clip to social media mentioning West’s legal troubles. She discussed how her texts with West from the last five years have been subpoenaed. Here’s what to know.

Kanye “Ye” West is once again making headlines, this time over serious allegations from a former employee, Trevor Phillips, who worked within both Yeezy and Donda Academy. Phillips has filed a lawsuit claiming he endured a toxic and discriminatory work environment under West’s leadership. The suit paints a troubling picture of life inside West’s creative empire, including claims that West praised Hitler, made antisemitic and anti-LGBTQ+ comments, and even suggested locking students in cages as a “vision” for his controversial school.

West reposted a video to X created by conservative commentator Candace Owens. In the video, Owens claimed she was subpoenaed for several years of texts between her and the rapper.

“I am being subpoenaed for five years of text messages between myself and the artist formerly known as Kanye West,” Owens stated. She then explained that the subpoena specifically wanted messages containing certain words or phrases. Those words or phrases included “the Jewish religion or people,” “antisemitism,” “Black people,” “African Americans,” “Nazism,” and slurs.

Owens noted that she had no idea why the lawsuit dragged her into the situation. “The idea that you even have to have access to five years of my text messages to know what Kanye West thinks is absurd,” she explained. “That is exactly what he’s known for. He’s constantly telling people what he thinks. He’s the one person who can’t just keep the thoughts in his head — he just says it.”
