Taking to Instagram, property expert Jonnie said last night that he was at the airport with his family ahead of his 50th birthday on Saturday.

The father-of-three added: “Well, I woke up this morning feeling a bit better.

“I’m still slightly jaundice but I’m about to jump on a flight to Southern Spain.

“I did clear it with my oncologist, he said, ‘Well, there are hospital in Spain and in fairness, you don’t play by the rules anyway’.

“But my thoughts are that’s probably part of my success so far.”

He coninued. “So fingers crossed my liver continues to get a bit better and me and my family, we wake up tomorrow morning to blue skies in Southern Spain.”

Jonnie signed off “Bon voyage to us” before turning the camera on his wife and kids.

The popular A Place In The Sun star is likely to be experiencing his final birthday when he turns 50 this week.

He worried fans when he said he was back in hospital on Monday night with jaundice, a fever and acute stabbing pain in his right side.

He told fans “Turns out I probably had an infection and other issues which I won’t bore you with.”

Looking to the future, he told how he had a further appointment that could lead to some positive news.

Jonnie said: “I have another scan today followed by a meeting with my oncologist so fingers crossed for positive news.”

The A Place in the Sun host was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2020, and has been given just months to live.

He shares three year old twins Rafa and Cormac with wife Jess as well as their five year old son, Rex.

Asked if his kids understand how unwell he is, he previously told the Daily Mail: “Not yet. When I’m more frail or in bed for days we might.

“If you have 20 days left, why spend them in mourning and confusion? Why not just have 15 days of pure, blissful ignorance and five days of knowing the facts?

“I’m not looking forward to the chat with Rex. We’re still thinking about it. I’ve learnt that it’s best to do nothing if you’re unsure.”
