Thanks, I Hate It

Jesse Palmer says he knows ‘The Bachelorette’ will be back, and he’s confident it will be a hit when it returns. He didn’t elaborate on why, though.

Season 22 of The Bachelorette won’t appear on ABC’s schedule anytime soon. The network reportedly decided to pause the longstanding dating competition. While no reason was given, fans and Bachelor Nation alumni have all weighed in with their theories. Franchise host Jesse Palmer isn’t willing to share his own theory about The Bachelorette’s sudden shift. Still, he does seem to have hope for the future. Palmer has spoken out about the decision and swears what comes next will be “tremendous.”

Shortly after news of the pause dropped, Jesse Palmer appeared on Playing the Field to discuss the franchise and its future. Palmer didn’t offer much information about the decision or why the team behind the show needed a cooling-off period. Still, he is hopeful. Palmer insisted that he knows the show will be back, and when it does return, it will be “tremendous.”

The former The Bachelor lead and series host said he wouldn’t be going into the creative process that led to the decision—still, he advised fans not to read too much into the pause. Palmer pointed out that the series hasn’t always dropped in the summer, and there is room on the calendar to slip a season in.

Have any other shows in the franchise been paused?

The Bachelorette has officially been paused. Aside from disappointment, the decision has left fans with many other questions. For example, will the pause alter the future of the other shows? Mainly, fans are wondering if the decision could push back The Bachelor season 29, too.

It’s always possible that changes could be made to The Bachelor, but it doesn’t appear the network plans to place any other shows in the franchise on hiatus at this time. While The Bachelor would traditionally pull a contestant from the previous season of The Bachelorette, the network could dig back several seasons to find a suitable lead or bring in someone unknown to the franchise. They don’t need contestants from a new season of The Bachelorette to make it work.

Bachelor in Paradise is going ahead as planned. While ABC has yet to share an official release date for the series, Deadline insists it will be on the docket for 2025. There are also plans for The Golden Bachelorette season 2, although a lead has not been named. There really is no reason either series would be impacted by a change to The Bachelorette, though.
