Ben Affleck and Kick Kennedy are reportedly getting to know each other as he navigates his divorce from Jennifer Lopez. Before Affleck and Lopez got back together in 2021, he and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s daughter allegedly had a fling. After Lopez officially filed for divorce from Affleck, he’s been spotted hanging out with the 36-year-old socialite.
A source told In Touch Weekly that Lopez is angry about the news of Affleck and Kennedy.
“The word is Ben and Kick have been spending time together and getting to know each other,” the source said. “Ben’s telling people it’s none of their business. He’s not going to explain whom he’s friends with, and the sooner he and J. Lo can wrap up this divorce and move on with each of their lives, the better.”
However, when Lopez heard about Kennedy and her soon-to-be ex-husband, she didn’t like it. “She’s livid at the thought that he’s been chasing tail at the same time she was fighting tooth and nail to save the marriage, and there’s no way she’s willing to let this go,” the insider continued.
Affleck’s representatives said the rumors regarding him and Kick are false. However, the insider noted that Affleck wants to “downplay” the potential romance.
Kick Kennedy didn’t want to be seen as a ‘mistress,’ a source said
Ben Affleck and Kick Kennedy might only remain close friends as he navigates the end of his marriage to Jennifer Lopez. However, Kennedy remains conscious of how the public views her. An insider told DailyMail.com that while she likes spending time with Affleck, she doesn’t want outsiders to view her as a “mistress.”
“They didn’t have any affair during his marriage, but it is interesting to Kick’s friends that as soon as this divorce happened all of a sudden Ben is hanging out with an old hookup whose family he sees as royalty,” the source said.
So, what does Kennedy think of Affleck? The insider said she sees him as intelligent and “very much her style,” as she also shies away from the spotlight.
“She is not a mistress,” the source continued. “She is nothing like J.Lo and likes to keep her private life private.” The insider also alleged that Kennedy doesn’t care what Lopez thinks of the potential romance.
Jennifer Lopez is ‘upset and disappointed’ with how her marriage ended
A source told People in August 2024 that Jennifer Lopez feels “upset and disappointed” with Ben Affleck as they go through a divorce.
“It’s really hit her hard,” the source said.
Yet another source told People that Lopez didn’t want to resort to divorce but felt she didn’t have a choice. “It’s been incredibly difficult for her that Ben chose to pull away from their marriage and move on with his life, leaving her behind,” the insider stated. “She didn’t want a divorce. She wanted to figure things out. They love each other. Jennifer is not the type to just give up. It’s been almost torture for her to wait around.”
However, now that she has filed, Lopez allegedly feels “relieved.”
