Jennifer Hudson is best known for her singing career, having started on ‘American Idol.’ Years later, she just revealed what song she would sing if it had to be the only one she could ever sing again.

Singer and talk show host Jennifer Hudson rose to fame in the music industry after her American Idol journey back in 2004. She was on season 3 of the hit singing competition, and viewers were shocked when she was eliminated earlier than many anticipated. However, it didn’t stop her from having a successful singing and acting career.

Today, Hudson is the host of her own talk show, The Jennifer Hudson Show, where she sits down with celebrity guests — and occasionally, they’re the ones asking her the questions. Hudson just revealed what song she would sing if she could only choose one.

Jennifer Hudson’s favorite song is not one from ‘Dream Girls’

In addition to her singing career, Hudson has also been involved in acting. Her most prominent movie role was in the 2006 film “Dream Girls,” where she starred as Effie White. And in it, she sang, “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going,” which wound up being one of her most famous songs ever. To this day, it’s the one she probably sings the most. But while sitting down with Coco Jones, Jones asked Hudson what song she could sing if she could only choose one to sing forever. And it wasn’t the iconic “Dream Girls” hit.

“I’m already singing it for the rest of my life,” Hudson joked of the song. However, she continued by revealing that “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen would actually be the one song she’d choose. “My favorite song to sing is Hallelujah, and I put it on my holiday album.  But that’s one of my favorite songs.” Unfortunately, Hudson didn’t give a vocal sample before moving onto another question.

Jennifer Hudson’s show was just renewed for a season 4

Hudson had an excited announcement for her fans in February 2025 when she revealed that her talk show had just been renewed for another season. “This is a blessing, and it could not have been done without you guys,” Hudson said after she received a standing ovation from the audience over the announcement. “Thank you for all your love and your support.”

Hudson’s talk show first premiered in September 2022, and she makes an effort to bring joy to the small screen every day. In addition to celebrity guests, Hudson often has young kids on the show who are doing remarkable things as well as the occasional animal appearance. Hudson’s show is currently in the midst of season 3, but season 4 will likely premiere in the fall of 2025.
