Jennifer Garner Allegedly Felt Jennifer Lopez’s Album Was a ‘Slap in the Face’

Jennifer Lopez has gone on record saying that she and Ben Affleck’s ex-wife Jennifer Garner are on good terms. However, if certain sources are to be believed, Garner reportedly felt Lopez’s latest album was a bit tasteless.

Out of all Lopez’s albums, her recent record, This Is Me…Now, was described as one of her most personal albums. It was a callback to her 2002 record This Is Me…Then, and coincided with an Amazon movie of the same name. Much of the record focused on Lopez’s journey to find love, which, at the time, led her right back to ex-flame Affleck.

“I never thought I’d get a second chance at this love. I’d like to capture this moment in time because I feel it’s even more incredible than the first time. What I want to say with this album is that true love does exist and some things are forever. They may not take a straight road, but they don’t leave you,” Lopez said in an interview with USA Today. “I made the most honest, true music I’ve ever done.”

As expected, the album referenced Affleck quite a few times. In some songs, like “Greatest Love Story Never Told,” Lopez would get a bit explicit about their intimacy. Because of this, it was reported that Garner might not have been a fan of the record.

“Jen thinks the whole thing is just cringe,” an insider claimed to Life & Style. “The kids don’t need to hear about Ben ‘climbing on top’ of their stepmom and their ‘bodies aligning.’ It’s embarrassing.”

Garner also allegedly didn’t appreciate how Lopez professed her undying love for Affleck, which seemingly didn’t expire after their first break up.

“Basically, this album is telling the world that the original Bennifer was meant to be,” the insider added. “On one track, Ben even utters, ‘I love you, I always have,’ which [Garner] took as a bit of a slap in the face. It’s tough to hear.”

However, it’s worth noting that another insider assured the Affleck exes got along pretty well with each other when it came to co-parenting.

“Jen and J. Lo have more in common than they’d probably like to acknowledge. They’re both career-driven artists and protective moms whose children come first,” the source said. “They don’t want to see the children suffer from a public spat between them. Seraphina and Emme are inseparable, and neither woman would come between their bond.”

How Jennifer Garner reportedly felt about Ben Affleck’s divorce from Jennifer Lopez

Lopez and Affleck didn’t last the way they hoped they would. After months of rumors and speculation, the pair announced their divorce on August 20, 2024. Even though Garner’s relationship with Affleck also didn’t end well, sources claimed that the Elektra star took no joy from the Bennifer split. Like a few Bennifer fans, Garner was also hopeful that the pair would’ve worked out as well according to a source.

“Jen was hopeful that things would work out between them but of course, she just wants them to be happy,” an insider once explained to Us Weekly.

The source further alleged that Garner might not be sure about exactly why Affleck and Lopez didn’t go the distance. But she’s respected their privacy and has continued supporting Affleck as a friend like she’s been known to do.

“Especially lately when things with J.Lo haven’t been so great in recent months,” the insider said.
