Jamie Foxx says he ‘would not be here’ without his ‘courageous’ sister Deidra: ‘Would’ve lost my life’

Jamie Foxx said he “would’ve lost [his] life” if it wasn’t for his “courageous” sister, Deidra Dixon.

The Oscar winner, 55, shared a heartfelt birthday tribute to his younger sibling as he credited her for helping him overcome his months-long hospitalization.

“Happy birthday to my beautiful for sister @frequency11 ‘D’ … you are magical you are beautiful you are the courageous lionesses #leoseason,” Foxx wrote on Instagram Tuesday. “And without you I would not be here … had you not made the decisions that you made I would’ve lost my life.”

“I love you forever and ever happy birthday sis,” he added alongside a series of snaps of Deidra.

Foxx’s other sister, Deondra Dixon, died in October 2020. She was 36.

His post, shared with his 16.7 million followers on the platform, came just days after he spoke out for the first time since being hospitalized following a mysterious “medical complication” in April.

“I cannot tell you how great it feels to have your family kick in in such a way, and y’all know they kept it airtight — they didn’t let nothing out, they protected me — and that’s what I hope that everyone could have in moments like these. But, I’m coming back, and I am able to work,” he added.

Elsewhere in the clip, Foxx said he went to “hell and back” during his stint in the hospital.

“I went through something I thought I would never, ever go through,” Foxx said, informing fans that he’s not “blind” or “paralyzed.”
