JAMES Morrison opened up about the “tough time” with partner Gill Catchpole and how the journey inspired a song before her death.
The 45-year-old was discovered at the house she shares with the singer and their two daughters in Whitminster, Gloucestershire, on Friday.

James revealed he wrote the soulful 2019 single My Love Goes On with Gill in mind.
“I was going though a bit of a rough time with my other half,” the 39-year-old told OK! Magazine.
“She was having a rough time and I wanted help her, but she just wasn’t seeing me as someone who could.
“It upset me because she wouldn’t let me in. Sometimes you can say it better in a song.”
James added that Gill was “quite jealous” and didn’t like Joss Stone, whose vocals feature on the track, when he first met her.
Gill is said to have “changed her mind” after hearing the song.
It comes as Gill was looking for house rentals before she was found dead.
A family friend confirmed to The Sun that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death and said James was being comforted by family and friends.
It has now emerged Gill, who owned a café in the village, had been house-hunting the day before the tragedy.
She wrote in an open local Facebook group: “Looking for a house to rent in Whitminster ASAP.
“Please contact me if anyone knows or hears of anything. TIA [thanks in advance].”
A family friend also shared the request, saying: “Gill is a very dear friend of mine.
“If anyone has any properties to rent preferably in the Whitminster area please let me know or message Gill directly.”
It is not known if Gill was looking for a home for herself or someone else.
Gill, who shares two daughters aged 15 and five with James, ran a café called the Cotswold Sandwich Box.
She had previously written about her excitement at starting the business after undergoing a kidney transplant in 2022.
The mum told in the November 2023 post how “after many ups downs and heartache I am a here owning my own business”.
Gill’s death is the fourth tragedy to hit Brit Award-winning artist James following the deaths of his dad, brother and nephew.
The You Give Me Something singer met Gill when he was 17 after she moved into his mum’s home with her then-boyfriend.
James serenaded his future partner by singing songs from Stevie Wonder’s album Key Of Life.
They eventually got together, with the couple later going on to have their children together.
