JAMES Corden’s extravagant plans to build a pool at his £8million pound home face being scrapped in a planning row.

The Gavin and Stacey star’s mansion is set to be knocked down and rebuilt ahead of his return to the UK.

However, plans to include an outdoor pool, a sauna and a steam room have since been dropped.

After a planning meeting of Wokingham District Council earlier this month, the development was only given the green light if Corden, 44, removed the leisure facilities.

The original application included a new indoor 11.5m long swimming pool, yoga studio, gym, and bathroom – which would have opened onto a terrace and outdoor 20m long swimming pool.

But English Heritage said the new pool house would be too close to the historic collection of 45 vertical granite megalithic stones on the grounds.

Planning official Simon Taylor recommended approval of the revised application.

He said in his report: “Following discussions with the applicant’s agent, it has been agreed that these aspects of the scheme be deleted from the current application to allow the application to proceed to Planning Committee for determination.

“It is possible that the pool house and outdoor swimming pool will come forward in a future planning application to be considered at that time.”

Mr Taylor said the planned pool house by Corden was first reduced in size – but then taken out all together.

He said: “The council’s conservation officer, Historic England and the Gardens Trust were all consulted.”

Once the current home is demolished, it will be replaced with a two-storey six-bedroom home with a basement, a large internal courtyard area, kitchen, living room, dining room and a breakfast room.

It will also include two study areas and three bathrooms.

The first floor will have five en-suite bedrooms and a main bedroom with two en-suites and a balcony.

Since revisions have been made, English Heritage have withdrew its objections.

The Corden family will move into the Oxfordshire home later this year.

It comes after Corden quit the Late Late Show in the States.
