What happened in the case between Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion?
Opening statements in the trial against rapper Tory Lanez began in December 2022.
Megan and her lawyers allege that Tory Lanez shot at her following an altercation that began in a vehicle outside of a party they’d left in Hollywood Hills.
What followed was a he-said, she-said ordeal on a very public stage.
During the trial, Deputy District Attorney Alexander Bott said the jury should believe Megan’s anguish: “Why would she lie?
“She’s been subjected to a stream of hate. For what? For coming forward as a victim of domestic violence?”

Lanez claims he didn’t shoot Megan and was framed by her production team.
Lanez’s defense attorney, George Mgdesyan, in his closing statement, called Megan a “liar.”
“She lied about everything in this case from the beginning,” Mgdesyan said. “She lied under oath here.”
Mgdesyan also alleged that his client was trying to, instead, “protect” Megan from her former friend, Kelsey Harris.
Both musicians used song lyrics and social media to allege that the other was lying about the events.
While Megan proceeded to testify in court on Wednesday, December 21, Lanez declared he would not take the witness stand in his defense.

In the opening verse to the first song on the album, titled Money Over Fallouts, Lanez sings: “Can’t cry now; I’m gonna laugh later,”
“Girl, you had the nerve to write that statement on that affidavit, knowing I don’t do it/But I’m coming at my truest, tryin’ to keep this shit 200 with ya, shorty/I can’t prove it but them people in yo’ ear/They the true ones that I feel that really got you thinking Tory Lanez would do you in for real.”
