IRANIAN film director Dariush Mehrjui and his wife have been found stabbed to death at their home.
The 83-year-old movie maker and his partner, Vehideh Mohammadifar, were murdered inside their home in the country’s capital of Tehran.

Local media reported that the couple’s daughter, Mona, made the horrific discovery when she visited their home last night.
The victims were reportedly found with stab wounds in their necks not long after it emerged that Mohammadifar complained about a knife threat she had recently.

The investigation is ongoing.
Tributes have begun pouring in for the director who helped pioneer a new wave of Iranian cinema in the 1970s.
He scooped international awards at Venice, Cannes, Chicago and San Sebastian.
