Taking to Twitter, Iain spoke of his “little boy” and how he didn’t know what to say to his children as their beloved pet was “knocked down in the most horrific of ways”.
“Just found my beautiful little boy cat George dead,” he wrote, later adding: “I’m inconsolable and don’t know what to say to my boys. We are just sat here on pieces. My baby boy.”
Later sharing photos of George, Iain wrote: “He was a baby. Just over three years old.”
“His sister Pattie has been following me all day before I’d found him and crying in a way I’ve never heard before,” Iain continued. “I truly believe she had seen him like that and was in mourning. She’s pacing around crying.”

“Off to bed. Can’t stop howling. Not sorry for sharing. I just needed to feel connections with people,” the presenter later added.
Monday morning, Iain has praised the work of Blue Cross bereavement line, saying he spoke to a “very nice lady” to help him process the grief.
The star has also seen many followers sharing their condolences, especially having experienced losing a much-loved pet themselves.
“George lived a fabulous life in a home where he was unconditionally loved and cared for. He was a very lucky boy. Hang on to the good memories,” one wrote.
A second added: “So sorry I can’t imagine how horrific that must have been for you, George looked like he was a lovely cat.”
“So sorry for your loss. It’s hard. We lost our Nibbles at 8 months after being knocked over. We all cried together as a family. Thinking of you guys,” a third noted.
While a fourth said: “Oh Iain, so sad to read this. Know that for the time you had George you gave him the very best. Thoughts with you & your boys. Hold tight to all the happy memories, which in time will ease your heavy hearts. Big hugs to Pattie & co. xx”
