Iconic Nineties band reveal new music and tour as they reunite with Oasis star 30 years after split

90S BAND Kula Shaker will be making their comeback – with new music on the way as well as a brand new tour. 

The psychedelic rock group, composed of Crispian Mills, Alonza Bevan, Paul Winterhart and Jay Darlington, enjoyed major mainstream success from 1995 to 1999.

Standing out from the Britpop surge of the time, Kula Shaker took a lot of influence from traditional Indian music and culture, with many of their lyrics written in Sanskrit. 

Their hits included Hey Dude, Hush, Govina, Sound of Drums and Tattva. 

Speaking on BBC Radio Sussex yesterday, Crispian revealed the group will be making a return with the full line-up.

This includes Jay Darlington, who has been performing with Oasis for the past decade.

“He was playing with oasis for, like 12/15 years, so we had a break.

“You know, musicians, people who sort of find themselves in the pop charts, they tend to retire when they’re about 21,” Crispian laughed. “They’re like footballers, you know?”

“So I had this sort of typical sort of nervous breakdown that you do when you’re 23/24, and we had to have a break just to sort of make sense of it all,” he continued. “Because we did so well when we were kids, and we just needed a bit of space to let the dust settle.

” And when we started making records again in 2006, Jay had already gone off with the Gallagher Brothers, so it took us a while to get him back into get a window in his schedule. We kidnapped him from a gig in Kuala Lumpur, and he’s never looked back.”

On Sunday, they performed the first of multiple shows that will send them across the world at the Tramshed in Cardiff. 

One of their shows at the Electric Ballroom in Camden, London, has already sold out. 

The new performances will then end in New York, performing at the esteemed Brooklyn Bowl. 

The new gigs are in line with their new double-A side singles, Bringing It Back Home and Rational Man.
