I was a pop star in huge noughties girl band – now I’ve swapped singing for a completely different career onstage

AT THE height of their fame in the noughties, The Saturdays were one of the biggest girl bands in the UK.

However, one member of the popular group has now revealed she has switched to a different career – but one that still sees her perform on stage.

Vanessa White, 32, has now revealed she is set to take the world of theatre by storm.

The singer-turned-actress was one of five members of the chart-topping girl band alongside Frankie Bridge, Mollie King, Una Healy and Rochelle Humes.

However, as the group are no longer together, Vanessa is now perusing a career treading the boards.

Taking to her Instagram Stories today, the star shared that she is starring in a production of Harold Pinter’s Betrayal at the Repertory Philippine theatre.

The play is in stark contrast to her days as a pop star.

The Saturdays dominated the charts with their massive hit songs including Up, All Fired Up, Issues and many more.

They formed in 2007 after industry giant Polydor Records held open auditions to form a band.

They were then catapulted to stardom after they supported Girls Aloud for their nationwide Tangled Up tour.

The group achieved thirteen top 10 records, five top 10 albums, and sold over five million records in the UK and Ireland.

But in 2014 the band revealed they were taking a hiatus.

During that time, they didn’t release any more music together and all went on to do their own things.

In an exclusive interview with Bizarre in 2022, Una revealed she is still hoping the girl group will one day return.

The Irish singer said: “I would love to do something with the girls again. I’m ready for it, any time.

“If the phone call came to say, ‘You’re going back on tour in six months’, I’d be like, ‘Yes, absolutely, bring it on’.”
