I was a child star in a top Hollywood blockbuster – I’m unrecognisable now, but still get royalty cheques 25yrs later

A CHILD actor has revealed he still receives royalty cheques for his cameo role in the movie Titanic – 25 years after it was released.

Reece Thompson was only five years old when he appeared in James Cameron’s 1997 hit film – playing the role of a young third-class Irish passenger.

The actor only had one line during the Oscar-winning disaster film – starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet – asking his mum “what are we doing?” as they desperately try to secure a place in one of the lifeboats.

After failing to do so, the doomed lad is seen curled up in bed with his mother and sister as the three await their imminent death.

Now a digital marketing director in Utah, Reece has astonishingly revealed that he is still remunerated for his bit-part role.

He told Australia’s Network 10: ‘Yeah, I still do [receive royalty cheques], it’s true.

“But I haven’t updated my address in several years, honestly since the last time I got interviewed for this.

“So, I haven’t seen them [the cheques] in a few years. I’m just assuming that they are still coming.”

Reece went on to explain how ironically he is becoming more associated with the role as the years pass.

He continued: “It’s interesting, I’d say my family and I mostly just think that it’s interesting that people are still finding it interesting.

“My wife and I mostly just get a kick out of comments.

“They are mostly just interesting to read, but – yeah – it feels like a dream it was so long ago.

“Any number of different things [are said], honestly, some of the comments I just can’t believe that it’s happening 25 years later.

“Now people are beginning to associate my face with it, whereas before it was a random fact about me, it’s kind of weird.”

The RMS Titanic sank on April 14, 1912 after hitting an iceberg while on its maiden voyage from Southampton, England, to New York City.

Over 1,500 passengers and crew lost their lives.
