‘I didn’t care if I died’ says Louise Thompson as she reveals truth behind traumatic childbirth for first time

LOUISE Thompson revealed the truth behind her traumatic childbirth for first time.

The former Made In Chelsea star endured an agonising labour as her child’s head was stuck on her pelvis, meaning that he had to be born via an emergency cesarean.

Louise, 34, previously welcomed her son Leo with her fiance Ryan Libbey, 33, in 2021.

Now, the TV personality has finally revealed what happened when she was in hospital three years ago.

As she gave birth, she lost three-and-a-half litres of blood during the process over more than three hours.

The former Channel 4 star admitted that although she successfully welcomed her first child, she feared she was going to die.

She told The Mail Online: “I heard a cry as Leo came out, but I didn’t care that I had a child.

“I genuinely believed every second I was bleeding to death. I kept turning to [my fiancé] Ryan [Libbey] and asking him whether I was still alive – I didn’t believe I could be.

She admitted that the doctors and nurses all seemed distressed during the process as she almost died.

Doctors told her that her womb had torn which caused the extensive haemorrhage.

The blood she lost was the equivalent of three quarters of the volume in one’s entire body.

Louise told the outlet: “No one gave us any reassurance; it was all like some sick nightmare.”

“‘Everyone in the room looked very distressed, I could feel their shaky hands on my body. If they’d allowed me to have a planned c-section, things could have been very different.”

Louise also admitted that she almost felt in shock after the birth as she was left ‘unable to function’ after the traumatic event.

“I didn’t care if I died. I just wanted someone else to kill me because I didn’t have the confidence to do it myself,” she revealed.

“I was in a state of perpetual fear and hyper-vigilance, unable to function for a large period of time, sitting on the sofa, completely losing my soul, my personality.”

She also admitted how she initially struggled to connect with her newborn son for a long time after he was welcomed into the world.

Louise admitted: “I really was not a good parent for a very long time. For most of his first few months I couldn’t have told you what he was doing or even who was looking after him.

She added: “When I did see him, I would hold him at arm’s length. I didn’t talk or sing to him.”

Her medical problems continued after she revealed she suffered from the chronic inflammatory bowel disease, Ulcerative Colitis.

Back in April, she opened up to her followers about the condition as she revealed her stoma bag.

She will now have to wear the device for the rest of her life after she had her colon removed.
