Hundreds turn out for Harry Styles lookalike competition as winner is crowned – but how would you rate the 1D wannabes?

DOZENS of men have turned up to a “Harry Styles lookalike” competition in London, with a winner crowned this afternoon.

The contest was judged by a mix of notable names and One Direction superfans and offered some neat cash prizes.

Organised by freelance journalist Katrina Mirpuri, the even took place this afternoon in London’s Soho Square.

As the name suggests, anyone could turn up to see if they bore a resemblance to the heartthrob actor and former 1D frontman.

Competitors were encouraged to dress up, inspired by the star’s famously flamboyant wardrobe, while adding their own individual flair.

The panel of judges included Ryan Lanji, a party planner known for his work on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, and the author of The Book of Harry, Bonnie McLaren.

They were accompanied by a number of lifestyle and showbiz journalists, all of whom are self-confessed One Direction superfans.

Prizes ranged from £50 for the winner and a selection of hair products for the victor in the “best hair” category to six-pack of organic wine for the “best style”.

And even the entrant unfortunate enough to be ranked as the worst lookalike didn’t leave empty-handed, claiming a four-pack of cheap beer.

All the prizes were presented by former Love Island star Eyal Booker.

After a hard-fought contest, a winner was named – but there was mixed reaction on social media.

One commenter wrote: “None of them look like him.”

Another joked: “Are the lookalikes in the room with us now?”

Yet a third hit back: “Harry Styles lookalike contest in London was full of some serious competition.”

Nonetheless, this is just the latest in a recent craze for celebrity lookalike searches across the globe.

A similar event dedicated to Timothee Chalamet in New York actually saw an appearance from the man himself and was eventually dispersed by police after too many people turned up.

And another one in Dublin attracted a crowd of young Irishman claiming to resemble Paul Mescal.
