Huge 90s band look very different at Glastonbury 27 years after huge hit The Life of Riley

GLASTONBURY is famous for its wide range of musical genres and artists, and this year was no different.

The Lightning Seeds opened the Other Stage on Friday, offering fans the chance to relive their youth.

The group is best known for teaming up with David Baddiel and Frank Skinner for the 1996 hit Three Lions, which springs back into life for every international tournament that England plays.

The Britpop band who soared to fame with their hit Life Of Riley opened by telling the crowd that they were “delighted” to be playing at the festival.

While the band’s appearance may have changed over the years, the group’s performance matched their sets from the nineties.

Ian wore his trademark sunglasses and dressed in a black button-down shirt.

Commenting on their long reign, one wrote: “Someone behind me while the Lightning Seeds were playing said ‘I remember my dad listening to them. They must be so old’, and if you will excuse me I now need to turn to dust.”

“The Lightning Seeds – Life Of Riley (Glastonbury 2023) This song brings me even more joy than it did when I was 19. I f****** love the Lightning Seeds,” one hard-core fan wrote.

Sharing their set list, another wrote: “I’m afraid cannot fathom why The Lightning Seeds aren’t headlining every festival lineup they’re on, look at how perfect this is.”

The band opened with their track Change and closed their gig with Life Of Riley and Three Lions – which the crowd went wild for.

“Sorry to go full centrist dad but I’m watching the Lightning Seeds’ set and most headliners would kill for this amount of lowkey bangers,” another wrote.

“Still not seen anything at Glastonbury so far, that matched what Lightning Seeds put on, earlier. Too easy to forget what a good song writer Ian Broudie is. Pure was like a hymn. The man is a shaman.”
