Prince William and Kate Middleton are likely “relieved” that Meghan Markle will be skipping King Charles III’s coronation on May 6, according to a royal expert.
Writer Eloise Parker told Entertainment Tonight Wednesday that the Prince, 40, and Princess of Wales, 41, may feel at ease with the Duchess of Sussex’s absence because there will be “less emphasis is going to be on them, who’s looking where, who’s lip reading, [and] what’s going on between them.”
“There’s such a fever of interest in these relationships and the truth is we’re never going to see a ‘Real Housewives’ moment between these women,” the royal expert explained.
“Everything is going to be kept firmly under wraps and I think for Kate, the fact that Meghan isn’t attending, helps her keep it that way.”
William and Kate have not released a statement on their true feelings about Markle missing the monumental event. Reps did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.
Sources told us earlier Wednesday that the Duchess of Sussex’s “genuine and authentic” decision came about in part because things remain “awkward” with the royal family.
An insider close to the Sussexes said the choice was made “after everything that has been said and all the things that have gone down,” adding, “The words that Harry and Meghan have said about the importance of their family are lining up with their actions.”

Prince William and Prince Harry’s feud dates back years, but even more familial issues were exposed in the latter’s memoir, “Spare,” which was released in January.
In the bombshell book, Harry wrote about a physical altercation he once got into with his brother and a source said the future king thought the revelation was unforgivable.
Middleton, for her part, was also “outraged and hurt” over Harry exposing her frosty relationship with Markle in the memoir.
However, the tense feelings are mutual as Harry claimed that he and his wife experienced “institutional gaslighting” throughout their time as senior members of the royal family.
The drama between the Sussexes and Wales is not the only reason Markle will not be at King Charles’ III’s big day.
We’re also told the “Suits” alum wanted to focus on her son Archie’s birthday, which coincides with the date of the coronation.
“There was no way that Meghan was going to miss her son’s birthday,” an insider said.
Although Markle, 41, Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1, will not be in attendance, Buckingham Palace confirmed earlier on Wednesday that Prince Harry will be at Westminster Abbey in London to see his father get formerly crowned as the King of England.
