What was Sean Connery’s cause of death?

James Bond legend Sean Connery died on October 31, 2020.

The Scottish star passed away in his sleep in the Bahamas after he had been unwell for “some time”.

The actor retired from acting in 2006, and from public life entirely in 2011.

Born in 1930, Sean was the son of Joe, a truck driver, and Euphamia, a laundress.

His stellar career has earned him accolades such as The Greatest Living Scot and Scotland’s Greatest Living National Treasure.

Not to mention in 1999, People magazine declared Sir Sean the Sexiest Man of the Century.

In 2000, Connery was officially knighted in 2000.

Where did Sean Connery live?

Sean owned several homes in Scotland as well as Spain but his permanent residence was on New Providence Island in the Bahamas.

The star previously lived in Marbella.

In September 2019, Sean revealed he was “lucky” to survive after his Bahamas mansion escaped the worst of Hurricane Dorian.

The Bond star was at his home in the plush Lyford Cay neighbourhood on New Providence Island when Dorian struck.

Sir Sean said: “We are both fine. We were lucky compared to many others and the damage here was not great.

“We had been prepared for the storm, everything was ready in advance – we weren’t taking any chances and knew what to do.”

What movies did Sean Connery star in?

Connery’s final film was The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen in 2003.

Connery skyrocketed to fame as the suave 007 in six Bond movies in the Sixties. He was the first actor to play the MI6 agent on the big screen.

He starred in Dr No (1962), Goldfinger (1964), From Russia, With Love (1964), Thunderball (1965), You Only Live Twice (1967), and Diamonds Are Forever (1971).

Although he is the best Bond in the eyes of many, Connery had a love-hate relationship with the role.

“I have always hated that damned James Bond,” he once famously said. “I’d like to kill him.”

Bond creator Ian Fleming and Connery famously did not get along.

Connery said: “I never got introduced to Fleming until I was well into the movie but I know he was not happy with me as the choice.

“What was it he called me, or told somebody? That I was an over-developed stunt man. He never said it to me. When I did eventually meet him he was very interesting, erudite and a snob – a real snob.”

Was Sean Connery married and did he have kids?

Connery had one son, Jason Connery, with first wife, actress Diane Cilento.

They were married for 11 years, from 1962 to 1973 and Connery’s first marriage has been mired with controversy after Diane accused him of being abusive.

Connery was married to Moroccan-French painter Micheline Roquebrune since 1975.

They met in 1970 at a golf tournament in Morocco.

She had been married twice and Sean had already split from his first wife
Diane Cilento.

Micheline revealed the pair hit it off – and romped within 24 hours of meeting.

Sean said: “In the early days it was difficult for us to see each other.

She was still living in North Africa with her children”.

However, despite the long-distance and language barrier, the pair had been together ever since, although they had no children together.

What was Sean Connery’s net worth?

The actor had earned a huge fortune of £266million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

His fortune has been accumulated from an acting career that has lasted over 60 years.

However, Sean hasn’t always known such riches, as the Scottish star started with nothing.

Born on the top floor of a tenement in Fountainbridge, Edinburgh, the family had no hot water, no bathroom and the loo — shared with a dozen families — was four floors down.

He started out working in the Navy and went on to have jobs including being a lorry driver and babysitter.

Sean donated a significant cut of his earnings to the Scottish International Education Trust to help students from poor backgrounds like his own.

He was also a vocal backer of Scottish independence and donated lots of his own money to the Scottish National Party.
