But she didn’t return from university alone and was joined by new boyfriend and PHD student Felix.

But some ITV viewers were convinced that they had seen Felix before and they would be right.

The Sun revealed earlier this month that Corrie have signed Robin Morrissey to bring a little Hollywood sparkle to the cobbles.

The character is set to appear for a number of episodes as he helps Summer settle back into her life in Weatherfield after studying in LA for the past few months.

She had to make the heartbreaking decision to leave her dad who suffers from motor neurone disease when she moved to America for her studies.

It’s unclear what Felix’s plans are but it seems that he and Summer are loved up.

Robin has spent a lot of time in Tinseltown after appearing in blockbuster Cloud Atlas.

He starred alongside Tom Hanks, Hugh Grant and Halle Berry in the film – which was his first professional acting job.

Since then he has appeared in a number of TV and film roles throughout his career.

He is perhaps best known to soap fans for his role as Will Hurran, the nephew of established character Jimmi Clay.

Robin’s character had a number of huge storylines during his role on the soap including a storyline in which his character emotionally revealed that he was secretly gay.

Liverpool-born actor Robin has also appeared in both seasons of hit ITV police drama The Tower.

He plays a character named Sgt. Fred Thompson.

His other TV roles include a regular in Award-winning four-part series Apple Tree Yard and Little Crackers.

Although Robin is a much-loved actor, Corrie fans were not impressed by Summer’s new beau as they took to social media in their droves.

One fan wrote: “Summer’s boyfriend looks like a right drip!

“Summer please get rid of that boyfriend he’s cringing me the f*** out,” exclaimed a second viewer.

As a third put: “Summer’s boyfriend is an absolute plonker!”
