Glastonbury 2023 secret sets: All the artists playing surprise shows including The Churn Ups

EVERY year at Glastonbury there are a number of spots on the line-up that are kept secret until the festival has already started – and 2023 is no exception.

Last year’s secret Glastonbury performers included the likes of George Ezra, Jack White, Bastille and YungBlud, and this year’s event is just as star-studded.

Who is playing a secret set at Glastonbury 2023?

The full Glastonbury 2023 line-up originally included 39 acts that were yet to be announced.

Since then, a number of slots have been revealed – though many at the time of writing were still unknown.

Foo Fighters

A mysterious band called The Churn Ups were announced for Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage ahead of the festival – despite the band not seeming to actually exist.

The Sun later revealed that the group were actually the Foo Fighters.

Dave Grohl’s band played a secret set on Friday, June 23, taking to the stage ahead of Royal Blood and headliners Arctic Monkeys.

The Blessed Madonna, Annie Mac and salute

DJ, producer and musician The Blessed Madonna, real name Marea Stamper, joined DJ Annie Mac and musician salute onstage at Glastonbury.

The trio joined forces for a secret set that was revealed just hours before it happened.

Hozier

Hozier confirmed he would be one of the surprise acts performing on the Friday evening of Glastonbury.

The Irish singer-songwriter, full name Andrew Hozier-Byrne, said he was “thrilled” to be taking on a slot.

He posted on social media: “Thrilled to announce I’ll be playing @glastofest again in a not-so-secret set this evening (Friday)!

“See you at 7.30pm, WoodSIES stage.”

SK Shlomo

SK Shlomo announced his 2023 Glastonbury set a few days before he took to the stage on the Friday.

The singer, songwriter, beatboxer, and music producer told his Instagram followers: “I’m so very excited to be heading back to my spiritual home, the world’s greatest festival.”

Deyaz

Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Deyaz took one of the previously unnamed slots on Glastonbury Friday.

He performed on the BBC Music Introducing stage.

Rick Astley and Blossoms

Never Gonna Give You Up hitmaker Rick Astley took to the Pyramid Stage alongside Blossoms at midday on Glastonbury Saturday.

As well as his most popular hit, Astley covered Chic’s Good Times and Harry Styles’ As It Was.

He also played his new single Dippin’ My Feet.

Astley was also confirmed for a Saturday night surprise slot with indie band Blossoms.

Woody Cook

Woody Cook is following in the footsteps of his dad, Fatboy Slim, by landing a slot at Glastonbury.

Woody, who is the son of the legendary DJ and Zoe Ball, was confirmed for a set on Sunday evening.

Fans may also recognise Woody from his appearance on Channel 4’s The Circle.

Seth Troxler

Seth Troxler was announced as a Glastonbury performer in early June.

The techno DJ and record producer is from Lake Orion, Michigan.

The Murder Capital

The Murder Capital were revealed as one of the performers for Glastonbury on Saturday evening.

The band is made up of James McGovern, Damien Tuit, Cathal Roper, Gabriel Paschal Blake, and Diarmuid Brennan.

The Pretenders

The Pretenders announced that they would be performing at Glastonbury 2023 just a few days before the festival kicked off.

The band posted the surprise announcement on their social media pages, confirming they would be taking to the Park Stage on Saturday evening.

Who is expected to perform a surprise show at Glastonbury 2023?

There are several rumours about who could be performing a surprise set at Glastonbury.

Word on the street is that singer and songwriter Raye could be set to take to the stage.

Speculation suggests she could play the BBC Introducing stage on Saturday.

The Sun also reported that Pulp are set to play the annual festival over the weekend.

It will be the first time Jarvis Cocker’s band will have played the festival in more than a decade.

Fatboy Slim is playing a set on the Saturday night of Glastonbury but he is also rumoured to be playing a second, surprise, set on the Sunday.

Past secret acts have included Lady Gaga, The Killers and Mumford and Sons.
